2008 AL Central Division Champs!! What a game. I agree Frank, just emotionally draining, hanging on ever pitch. It was tremendous. I was at play-off games and World Series games in 2005, and this atmosphere was just as intense, if not more so. Fuckin awesome to finally see us clinch at home! Absolutely wild! Those are great videos too Frank. My season tix are section 145, so I'm a few sections down from you.

I tip my hat to the Twins. They're a solid young team and should be back next year, probably even better. The season was a great battle right down the very end, and then some. As far as the coin flip goes, that's the way MLB has done it for a while. I remember in '98 when the Cubs won the coin flip for the tiebreaker. It sucks, and I know I would be pissed if the roles were reversed, but as OmahaJammer said, the Twins coulda put this thing away with KC in the dome, but you guys let us hang around just a little too long.

And I wouldn't count the Sox out against the Rays automatically. They've gotten some confidence back with these last 3 games and have plenty of play-off experience. Regular season doesn't mean shit anymore. And if the Sox can take one game down there and bring it home at 1-1, I'd like our chances in a best of 5 game set.

That was a nice catch! I do have one question though, were those fireworks exploding or was that just the fans shooting their guns in the air or perhaps some random drive-by?
    :D

Har har. You should know the sound. Remember this?

Thats what gives me hope.. half the Sox have playoff experience and a ring. When times are tough, they know how to pull it off.. the odds are against them, but thats when they shine.

I wonder how many people have been gunned down around Comis...er uh...US Cellular Field in the last 4 years.

Either way...I was joking *glad you missed the friendly banter after all of this time*.

I hope the Cubs and the Sox make the Windy City Series because I think that would be amazing!

But if the Sox choke and don't make it past the Rays, oh well! ;)

What a incredible win last night!

Danks was unreal. Talk about stepping up in the biggest start of your life. I still don't think Thome's HR ball has landed. That was an absolute bomb.

Hopefully we can keep this momentun going into Tampa Bay. Javy is due for a good start.

I guarantee nobody has been gunned down directly across the street from the stadium in the last four years. Trust me, the media and Cub fans would've had a field day with it and would never have let it down. On a scale of when the Cubs last won a World Series, 4 years ago seems like yesterday. And I was just joking around too, I just didn't put a ;) next to it so you couldn't detect the sarcasm. It's really ridiculous how sensitive, and hypocritical, you Cub fans are. You can say whatever you want trashing our team, but as soon as we fire back, "Dude, I was just joking." I mean, if you're gonna dish it, prepare to take it. And this is why I do not want a Windy City Series, cuz it will get too insane here.

As for the games, nobody is picking the Sox, they don't have home field and are playing a team with about 10 more regular season wins, so they can't really choke. If the Cubs fall anywhere short of a World Series, with all the gushing that has been going on around here, it will be the single most disappointing season in the history of baseball and a HUGE choke. Now that's pressure. Let the games begin.

Yeah, 461 feet on Thome's homer. He's a monster when he actually swings at a pitch in the zone and makes contact.

I'm not sure how I feel about Javy right now. He's 0-3 with like a 13 ERA in his last 3 starts and really doesn't deserve to be starting game 1 in the postseason. But he is a .500 career pitcher, so he seems to even out his really bad starts with really good starts. He is 1-1 with a 2.70 ERA at the Trop this year, not bad. The key is getting our 3-4-5 hitters hot and getting the bullpen, besides Jenks, ready to step-up when need be.

Totally agree, I don't want a Windy City series either. Not so much cause I don't want to deal with all the typical Cubs-Sox bullshit that comes with it, cause it will be amplified to the millionth degree. I just don't want the chance of the Cubs losing to the Sox, and never hearing the end of it!

As far as single most disappointing season in the history of baseball? Comon, there have been plenty of upper 90 win teams that haven't made it to the world series dude. What about Seattle in 2001, they won 116 games and got spanked right out of the ALCS. Cubs maybe favored in the NL, but I doubt the WS. Angels had a better season, Tampa had the same number of wins as the Cubs, Boston was only 2 back. It takes a lot to win 11 games in the postseason man. Would this season be a disappointment? Obviously, but biggest ever, is a huge stretch.

I'm definitely not coming here to waste time bashing the Sox, I'd rather concentrate on the Cubs and go from there.

    Hooray for a coin flip!

    WAAAAA WAAAAAAAA WAAAAAAAAAA

I was just waiting for the Twins fans to start bitching about this. While the coin flip may not seem fair, that's how it's been in baseball for a long time. It's not like this was a new development. Deal with it.

I'm pretty calm right now, atleast compared to the mornings before Monday's and Tuesday's games. I'm really going into this game feeling like a win would be a bonus. Nobody is expected anything from us. The Rays are the national media's darlings and I think they'll be feeling some pressure. Whether they strive on it or freak out has yet to be seen. Sox will get men on base, it's all about getting them across the plate. If we can get to Shields early and take some heat off Vazquez, maybe settle him down, I think he'll be alright. The bullpen is a whole other story though. Just win one at the Trop and bring it back to Comiskey for a hometown beatdown.

I am actually surprisingly calm right now as well. Javy needs to pitch with confidence and throw strikes early. He is long overdue for a strong start. He pitched pretty well twice down there in Tampa earlier this year, hopefully he can do it again. It's safe to say it will be an unproductive afternoon at work with my ears glued to the radio. GO SOX!
  • I'm really looking forward to watching the Rays beat the living shit out of the White Sox.
