I really like living in Boston but I'm just feeling like I'm never going to get ahead here - everything is so expensive. I'm thinking of moving South (NC or SC) or West (Nevada, AZ).

Is anyone in a similar position? Or has anyone decided to pick up and move elsewhere? I'd appreciate your thoughts and/or advice?

  • i'm planning on moving within a year i guess. I moved here for the job experience and now that i have that i'm ready to go. love the job but i'm trapped way out in Houston's suburban wasteland, and its not for me. When my lease is up next month i'm gonna try to move into the city if i can find a cheap place with a short lease, then i'm out of here. There really isnt any point in moving if you are just gonna live in the burbs.

I've picked up and moved on a whim a couple of times, and i've never regretted doing it yet. Trying to be a bt more responsible this time around though.

I moved to Calgary in October as I had never lived anywhere but my hometown and while I can hardly work for Calgary Tourism. I do think the move was a good thing... . Although right now I am stuck in the 'burbs. The 'burbs stink but c'est la vie for now.

Within a couple of years, my wife and I are heading to the hills. Even Boise, Idaho is too crowded for us...

Funny thing is the wife and I had considered a relocation from NC to Boston! We just couldn't justify the cost at this point. I would love to live up there in the future though. Maybe once I get my finance degree and get a decent paying job...

Hey, I'm from CT (live in MA now). But I lived in AZ for 2.5 years (way too fucking hot for this New Englander). I had to move back. Plus, I've traveled to 48 of our states. The more I travel the happier I am about living here. Plus, AZ wasn't any cheaper than living here. Some things are cheaper but gas and food cost more. Housing prices were equal to MA prices.

  • You might try having a relocation chart(astrology) done.Different locations can be either benificial or not too good for you.If you know your time of birth it will be very helpful. You can submit up to 5 places you might like to go,and each will be addressed for you.Hope this helps. C.D.55

I plan on building a catamaran and sailing around the world with my family. Living off the ocean and staying for a month or so whenever we make it to land. That's about 8 years in the future, though, and until then I won't be relocating.
I really screwed that up. I really Schruted it.
