Not sure if you guys check out bostondirtdogs.com , but there is an interesting little column about Manny today.

Since signing Manny in 2001 the Sox are 20-37 against the Yanks after July 1st. I'm not trying to make some revisionist history, but maybe his presence as a Yankee killer was overperceived over the years.

In his first two years with the Red Sox, Ramirez was 9-for-40 (.225) with no home runs and one RBI in 11 games.

From 2003-2007 in games against the Yankees after July 31, Ramirez was 27-for-65 for a .415 average.

While their post-July 31 record against the Yankees is not great, I don't know if blaming Ramirez's statistical performance in the games has to do with it. You can blame him for missing games with whatever "injury" was bothering with him, but can you blame him for going 8-for-11 with two home runs, seven RBI and nine walks in the five-game series in 2006?

I like the move for Kotsay. He's no power threat by any means but he has a solid OBP and BA. He should partially fill the hole left by JD Drew. I'd rather have him out there than having both Coco and Ellsbury playing everyday.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

I alwyas hated that stat ... great, Kotsay hits .386 at Fenway ... against Red Sox pitching ... it's more about matchups than ball park in my opinion.

anyway ... another injury, grumble ... as long as they can hold onto the wild card and get Lowell and Beckett back in time for the playoffs, they'll be in ok shape.

Byrd v Fat Ponson tonight ... smart bet is to take the 'over'.

True, but at least for the better part of the last decade, Red Sox pitching has been above league average.

believe me we could keep losing and the attention no matter what will always be on us..its a double edged sword..the media loves us regardless. YOU know this, I know this and the whole red sox nation knows this

anyways..I dont really think im an ASSHole...I just like to talk shit...big difference ;) and hate when my team loses to an inferior team :D

here's the thing, about 10 years ago ... yeah, there was a lot of one sidedness to this rivalry ...

But when I walk through the halls of MSG in 2008 and I can hear a crew of folks start "Red Sox Suck!" chants, at a Pearl Jam show ... tack on the gratest comeback in all of major league baseball history and 2 championships for the Sox ...then indeed, I know, it's in Yankees' fans heads. :D

You can deny it all you want, but again, you're in here puffing out your chest ... we're not in the Yankee thread.

In case you're curious, it goes Yanks, Cards, A's and then Red Sox.

Of course it is nice to say that there are tens of thousands of kids in NYC going to 2nd and 3rd grade next week who have never seen a Yankee World Series win and they won't for the foreseeable future. ;)

wow...even the Cards and A's have more than you guys???
    hahahahahahahahhahahhah
    thats gotta suck!

and you say these kids wont see a championship like the biggest market in the world doesnt have the ability to go out and buy the best team money can buy. Rest asssured the Yankees will be back in no time and I think we'll win one before you guys win again. It's all hypothetical of course..next yrs another yr aint woried about it..we still have 31 games left and for all intents and purposes we still can pull to within 4 of you guys with big series against TB 2x, W. Sox, Toronto and one last one against you guys

so you really think and believe after all these yrs of daggers in the red sux heart that we cant overcome 6 games in 31...hey we lose we lose..were alredy written off as dead...if we win tho oh god how quick yall will dissapear and how much more painful it will be for you guys
SOmewhere thers gotta be another Boone or Dent story in the making. 31 games left and we still gotta play them so nothings done yet

I'm still ok with it cause remember..I'm a diehard NY Rangers fan so having to deal with that ridiculous spending after Messier left was extremely painful and also I can relate to your shortage of championships having won only once in god knows how many yrs..even having to deal with that 1940's chant for YEARS from rival flyers, Isles, Penguins fans killed me
    so there
I feel your pain Red Sox fans..its all love..Solat13, g under p, and a few others knows we're still cool. ;) Its just a rivalry and it makes it fun...who plays basketball or any sport and doesnt trash talk??...quiet pickup games bore me lol :D
