A BIG drunken FUCK YOU to David Stern and the 28 NBA team owners who voted against the city of Seattle today.0 -

They are looking entirely at the short term here. OKC deal gets them money now, but it's not a sustainable market IMO.NERDS!0 -

I am still holding out slim hope that the Howard Schultz and/or the City of Seattle lawsuits will reign positive for us here...0 -

Feel sorry for you guys. Its not like Seattle doesn't support the team and the Sonics play in empty stadiums every night. That I could understand. Sucks.DAL-7/5/98,10/17/00,6/9/03,11/15/13

Reading all the article about Stern and Bennett just pisses me off....0 -
aNiMaL wrote:Yeah, we got a pro soccer team coming, so that's cool. And I also think we should try for an NHL team too. I could get into hockey, I think.
I've already got my deposit down for season tickets to the Sounders in 2009. And we'd already have an NHL team if Ackerly and the Sonics weren't douches when the Key was being renovated. The NHL was looking to expand here after the success of the TBirds. Had the Key been build as a dual sport venue, an expansion team was ours. I've never attended a Sonics game since (and I used to go semi-regularly). I do feel bad for NBA/Sonics fans, though. This city has supported the team through good and bad. The Key could use a little work, but is an adequate facility for basketball. Stern and Bennett have been nothing but shady and dishonest through this entire deal."I'll use the magic word - let's just shut the fuck up, please." EV, 04/13/080 -
honestly the only reason dallas voted against it is cause they dont want to lose any fans or money. the other owners care more about their teams in the playoffs than a team moving. i still think its a stupid move. wrong time to bring this up.I will be what i could be

NOCODE#1 wrote:file under no one cares. Teams move all the time, welcome to the present
Of course people care. And teams generally move when their support base dwindles and the economics forces it. This is a team that had fan support, a decent venue with an adequate lease, what we thought was decent ownership before the sale. The team is moving to a smaller market with an NCAA focus. But you are right about the present - a billionaire comes in, buys the team with the sole intention of moving it, tries to blackmail a city, tries to illegally break a lease, gets a corrupt league administration to support him, and moves it to hicksville. Yeehaw."I'll use the magic word - let's just shut the fuck up, please." EV, 04/13/080 -
