there might be a thread about this somewhere already...who knows...
I thought they weren't ever gonna play there again? I mean I know it wasn't official or anything, but damn, I was getting so used to going to shows in the city! the tweeter center is for old people!
kidding aside, we all have to pollute to get there- there's pretty much no way to get there without driving. multiply the emissions by all the fans at the show...
I mean I'm still going to go of course, but I wonder if they tried to get the garden and couldn't for some reason?

Ed sung "we don't ever have to play this outdoor place again" during YL at Boston 3 and said next time "see you at the Fleet" but don't take his every word as gospel. They'd probably made plans already for the VFC tour and knew they would be there so maybe it was a hint.My PJ shows:

so the mansfield venue isn't accessible by public transit? or within walking distance of public transit? i've been looking into that show as a backup to NYC if i don't get the tickets, and it seemed to be on a transit line, somewhere. please tell me if i am wrong - this makes a big difference!! also, is it or is it not public transit accessible from boston? from what i saw, it's just like a suburb."uncanny and immutable"0

Pretty sure my Uncle takes the train there for every Pats game. It drops you off close enough to walk less than 1/2 Mile if I remember correctly. Literally drops you off in the parking lot or there about.
Could someone confirm this as I'm not 100% since the new stadium.0 -

i was there twice in 03, and if i remember correctly, it's like 45-50 minutes south of boston.
well, not sure if it was south, but it was definitely like 45 minutes."and onward goes this thing of ours."

and with regard to the environmental issues...doesn't pearl jam still do a carbon-offset program for each tour?"and onward goes this thing of ours."

There's a commuter rail to Mansfield. You need to take a cab ride to the venue though0

all amphitheaters are the same...and yes any seat is decent, but more importantly they always have great sound."and onward goes this thing of ours."

Down low is good, and lawn isn't actually all that bad provided it's not raining, of course, but I feel like the second tier of seating is hit or miss if you end up in it. Just hope you don't end up behind a pole!
For the record, I'm rather short, and that definitely has strong bearing on my opinion.
Sound IS awesome.Stop following me, I do not know where I am going.0 -
I love the Tweeter center.0

I'm not from Boston but I did go to Boston 3 and we looked into the train from Boston and from what I remember it was going to be mighty tight to get the last train before the end of the show. It's in the middle of nowhere (well seemed to be) and you wouldn't wanna get stuck in there. We trained it there and back but got a motel for the night of the show and got a taxi to and from the show. I'd highly recommend that if your from out of town and don't know the area and book a motel early. As far ad the venue went, I loved it but we don't have sheds in Europe or Australia so maybe it was novelty value, I thought the sound was great though where we were seated. My PJ shows:

Train is a bad idea...there is no easy way to get to Great Woods, er...Tweeter Center from the train. The guy who referenced the Pats game is right about the 1/2 mile walk but the only problem is the Pats don't really play anywhere near Mansfield. Foxborough is a good 20-40 minutes away, depending on traffic.
Best bet may be to take the train into Boston and see if you can hook up with someone from there. But leave early - traffic traveling south out of the city, on a work day, is usually a nightmare. It is 4th of July week so that may reduce that problem a little but if you leave the city anytime after 4 pm, you are rolling the dice big time...
Re: seating: anything under the roof is good. I've sat in the last row under the roof and it's fine.0 -
i saw my first paerl jam show there (night 3, 03) i was about 1/2 way up the second section of seats. had a great view and the sound was great.
if you get seats back too far, they are un-covered. which sucks if its raining....and it always rains when i go there. make sure you are down low to stay dry."Some people think it makes a difference...I think it's the difference that makes it"
