This isn't the land of opportunity, it's the land of competition.
  • Honestly...who knows.

It's where they develop stuff that they eventually declassify for public use 10-20 years later...
Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions

  • I've seen a few amateur documentaries on it. You cant get near that place.

invisible sensors all over the place miles away.

    Security like you wouldn't believe.

Maybe it's where all the senators go to get away from their wives...

    or breed with aliens....lol

Just laughter.....however to "save all of us" the US could start by ridding ourselves from all the new nuclear weapons we're stockpiling.

The location known as Area 51 is in the Nellis Air Force Test Range. The remote location that is about 600 square miles that includes the area where early atmospheric nuclear tests were conducted at Yucca Flats. This is the range where the Air Force test systems to defeat foriegn air force and air defense systems. Weapons systems such as the F-117A and B-2 Bomber were flight tested on this range. That's also where missile guidence systems such as the HARM missile was developed. There is no manufacturing going on over there... flight tests, weapons separation tests, live fire testing, air defense systems testing... things like that. It is rumoured that C-5 flights in the middle of the night were actually shuttling F-117s from the Lockheed Skunkworks manufacuring plant in Burbank, CA. to the Nellis facility.
That was where U.S. pilots trainned to simulate Soviet pilots flew captured or stolen Soviet fighters to fly patrol sorties, looking for the stealth fighters. I heard that the pilots who were chosen to fly the F-117 tests were put on a C-130 or C-141 transports and flown around for hours so they would not know where they landed. They were told they would be flight testing A-7 Corsairs carrying clasified weapons systems. Upon arrival, They were briefed that they would be testing the 'non-existant' aircraft.
The test range is also where the Air Force conducts it's Red Flag Operations... the Air Force's version of Top Gun. The air space over the test range is restricted and use of lethal force is authorized against any unauthorized persons on the ground or in the air.
The Groom Lake facility is pretty much vacant these days, mostly because of the conspiracy nuts that wanted a closer look at flying saucers and shit. Most of the black projects have been moved to the Tonopah facility that is tucked deep in the test range and protected from view by surrounding mountain ranges and is basically only reached by air or restricted rail.
    ...
As for the workers... they are sworn by an oath to attain their security clearances and risk serious jail time if they disclose details of their operations.

thank you for clearing that up
  • It's like another Bohemian grove except with really cool airplanes, and those intel dudes dressed in those shiny space suits dancing all the time.

I wish I could find that documentary. These guys tried to get near it, and the security was off the hook...both air and land. A quick flyby overhead, then land dispatch. Deadly, as in you would die (or survival would be questionable) if you kept going past certain point. I believe that's what the signs said (if I remember correctly).

    No. That's stuff I heard.
I didn't work on the F-117 or B-2 manufacturing programs, but I was cleared because of the systems I worked on that go with those programs. I have never been to Nellis Test range (except for the open house at Nellis A.F.B. to see the Thunderbirds). I did go up to the China Lake Naval Weapons facility to see a live firing of the Vulcan Phallynx 20mm gattling gun that goes on the C-130 Spectre Gunships. You do not want to be on the recieving end of that mother fucker. It turned a tank into tiny bits of metal in seconds.
Since then, all of the projects have gone blue except for certain parameters such as flight data and weapons loads. Everything I posted was from 25+ years of working on and/or with Air Force systems and with Air Force personel.
    ...
Check Wikapedia for anything I've lifted... and let me know.
