Commitment for commitment sake is disturbing. That's what leads to gambling problems. A wise investor and business person knows you don't chase bad money with good. When you realize you've made a bad investment or a bad bet you cut your losses by not continuing to throw money at it. It is much easier to read the poll results from the link provided in the first post. Some of the questions/answer are eye opening and a bit depressing.

When the US occupied this country of Iraq we disrupted civil order with an array of disorder and corruption.
Ever notice the threat that if we leave the country will be open to take over by countries like Iran? All done to to keep the US safely tucked away in Iraq. Fear has worked very well for this administration.

Agreed. The right thing to do is stop accumulating casualties by attempting to force democracy on an unaccepting, unwilling populace. They aren't willing to help themselves. yes, i accept those things. the problems of the middle east are their problems. they're as happy killing each other as they are us. let them work on each other. ill worry about them once they learn how to play nice with each other.0 -

What does this mean?
I agree with soulsinging. The entire middle east is so fucked up it is time to let them go for it. Hash it out. Kill each other. When someone wins they can call us and we'll trade. Death is going to happen over there anyway. It might as well happen without us. Why is it our problem? It was going on long before we got there. It will continue long after we're gone. We might as well cut our losses."I'll use the magic word - let's just shut the fuck up, please." EV, 04/13/080 -

that's my point though... it's none of our damn business. let's get the fuck out and stop meddling in the middle east. it's brought us nothing but bad. we've got our own problems to deal with.0 -

Yes we have a ton of issues and problems here in this country but the problem is this administration can't profit from those problems. Our administration doesn't care about whether the average citizen can get ahead or has health insurance, etc. A whole region down in the Gulf is ignored and relegated to obscurity are they being helped really.
They're putting back in the SAME levy system which is just waiting to be destroyed again. Why not instead show the world how WE take of our own by building creating something state of the art system like they've done in Scandinavian countries to keep back the North Sea. Why can't we do that cause they don't care and the money isn't there, it's flying over Baghdad on billion $$$ cash pallets only to disappear. Their corruption is sickening.
I've said as long as there's oil left in Iraq or Iran we will NEVER EVER leave Iraq. In Saudi Arabia we don't have to worry about we already have them in our back pockets.

again, this is a costs benefit analysis that has been done. the city is too low to build for a cat 5 hurricane. bush is the one who wants the build it strong enough. congress doesnt. which is also confusing why you blame "the administration" when congress is ultimately the one who decides where money is spent.
you've said it all along huh? you are starting to sound like roland. of course we will never leave Iraq. same reason we have never leave germany, korea, or the balkins. do we get oil from those countries? no, but somehow we are still there.

These clever statement made the intention clear. Link Iraq to 9/11 while providing reagan's old "plausable deniability". Criminals.
