"Do you think Saddam Hussein was personally involved in the September 11th, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon?"

33% of All Adults, 40% Republicans, and 27% Dems.
Who are these morons?? I wonder where these idiots got that idea? A little willful conflation perhaps?

I know that Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with 9/11, and I also don't believe that 9/11 was a government conspiracy. It was a failure of our government's communication, but I don't believe it was a conspiracy.

Yes, you win the "eyes wide open" award, free from brainwashing by Fox News or YouTube.

there is no way that in an unbiased question that 33% of people believe that. period. i'd like to see the actual question and offered responses.

I wanted to believe that, too. But unfortunately, even with an abysmally low approval rating, a quarter of the people think Bush is doing a good job. It isn't a stretch to think that all of them, plus a few other morons would answer in the affirmative.

    The source of the poll:

CBS News/New York Times Poll. Sept. 4-8, 2007. N=1,035 adults nationwide. MoE ± 3 (for all adults).

    The question:
"Do you think Saddam Hussein was personally involved in the September 11th, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon?"

    The results:

    Yes No Unsure
    % % %
    ALL adults 33 58 9
    Republicans 40 51 9
    Democrats 27 63 10
    Independents 32 60 8

So even almost 1/3 of Dems believe it! Goddam.

Fortunately that number keeps shrinking. Unfortunately, it is still around 40% somehow:

Commitment for commitment sake is disturbing. That's what leads to gambling problems. A wise investor and business person knows you don't chase bad money with good. When you realize you've made a bad investment or a bad bet you cut your losses by not continuing to throw money at it. This is the same situation.

When the US occupied this country of Iraq we disrupted civil order with an array of disorder and corruption.

Ever notice the threat that if we leave the country will be open to take over by countries like Iran? All done to to keep the US safely tucked away in Iraq. Fear has worked very well for this administration.

Agreed. The right thing to do is stop accumulating casualties by attempting to force democracy on an unaccepting, unwilling populace. They aren't willing to help themselves. I'm not willing to put our people in harms way to force them to.

    What does this mean?

I agree with soulsinging. The entire middle east is so fucked up it is time to let them go for it. Hash it out. Kill each other. When someone wins they can call us and we'll trade. Death is going to happen over there anyway. It might as well happen without us. Why is it our problem? It was going on long before we got there. It will continue long after we're gone. We might as well cut our losses.

Yes we have a ton of issues and problems here in this country but the problem is this administration can't profit from those problems. Our administration doesn't care about whether the average citizen can get ahead or has health insurance, etc. A whole region down in the Gulf is ignored and relegated to obscurity are they being helped really.

They're putting back in the SAME levy system which is just waiting to be destroyed again. Why not instead show the world how WE take of our own by building creating something state of the art system like they've done in Scandinavian countries to keep back the North Sea. Why can't we do that cause they don't care and the money isn't there, it's flying over Baghdad on billion $$$ cash pallets only to disappear. Their corruption is sickening.

I've said as long as there's oil left in Iraq or Iran we will NEVER EVER leave Iraq. In Saudi Arabia we don't have to worry about we already have them in our back pockets.

Peace and let the voices be heard this Saturday. StayHuman
