Miss Teen USA 2007 - South Carolina answers a question

One thing I gotta say in her favor besides that she gives me a major stiffy is that it's difficult to answer a question like that without getting into a major diatribe about the state of american popular culture. I think these pageant girls are trained to get up there and say something positive no matter what they are given. So, the last thing she is prepared for is a question that forces her to take a critical stance. Beauty pageants themselves are premised on the culture of keeping up appearances. If you ask me, it's really a trick question. It's like asking her why this country sucks.0

not quite...the men in to catch a predator are under the impression that they are hooking up with 12-14 y/o's.0 -

Further proof that your GPA, test scores and after school activities mean absolutely nothing when it comes to intelligence. I've really got to read more.My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.0 -

how old were the youngest girls on this show? still seems a bit contradictory to me... encouraging high school girls to act like sex symbols on national tv then act like it's insane when guys suddenly start to think maybe it's ok to sleep with high school girls cos they know what they're doing.0 -
Do you think she rehearsed that answer?0
 -

i think maybe she rehearsed an answer that had something to do with South Africa and Iraq...and tried to use it to answer a question that had nothing to do with South Africa and Iraq.Jeanwah wrote:Do you think she rehearsed that answer?

It depends on where you are in the state. Just like any other place, if you live in an affluent area, you are more likely to have a better school system. There are some school districts in the state that are excellent, but there are also some very bad school districts. The school districts in the more rural parts of the state are more likely to have lower standardized test scores, a lower emphasis on public education, and need more funding (that they probably won't receive).DarkStar wrote:What is going on down there in South Carolina? odd...Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

Yeah. A grand illustration.
That was embarrassing.
I really don't want to slam this girl, but neither do I want to make excuses for her.
terrible.
Maybe she was extremely nervous and had a panic attack...or something. Some people simply don't do well in a public-speaking, big audience situation.0 -
i have $20 that says she cant point to "the iraq" on a map
any takers?0 -

I'd put $20 on at least 40% of the United States' population under 20 couldn't point to Iraq on a map.my2hands wrote:i have $20 that says she cant point to "the iraq" on a map

why "under 20"
i bet any age group couldnt do it regularly0 -

true, there are always going to be some in any age group that couldn't do that, but I said under 20 because of how Americanized society has become and how socially unaware most kids are nowmy2hands wrote:why "under 20"

Iraq... Iraq... it's somewhere in the Middle East... therefore, it must be near Iowa... which is in the Mid-West...
