Is there a reason why they shoot them from the plane?

it tires the animals out ... they'll follow them until they stop from exhaustion, then shoot.

I personally don't like hunting, fishing is another story, but I feel that if you are going to hunt you should at least be fair. Man up and use a bow and arrow or a spear. None of this perched up on a hunting platform in a tree with a rifle, or in a plane as the guy in the video. That's just being a pussy if you ask me.

here is a longer version of the move against ariel hunting ... discussing the claims that they need to hunt wolves to "protect Caribou" ...

i think most hunters even think this practice is bullshit.

unless we are talking about the dick cheney style hunters who go to a pheasant ranch and open the door of their food pickup to shoot at the animals (or at their friends face).

yes they have to protect the Caribou so they in turn can shoot them from a plane.

  • Christ. I am not clicking on that link, but I have read up on this bullshit.

Soon they'll have internet hunting. Point and click on a satellite map of a herd of animals, and a laser-guided shell comes out of the sky to make the kill. The staff retrieves the kill, sends you the trophy and fillets the meat for you.

I don't agree with this bow and spear nonsense, I am not a throwback to the Neolithic age. Hunting for food is a form of harvesting, and no one tells farmer Bob to trade in his combine for one of those old-school Egytian-style scythes ... "Park the combine, you pussy!" ...

That being said, yeah, wolf hunting is not right, for several different reasons, and the idea of chasing down a noble creature from the air so that it can be dispatched when it reaches the point of exhaustion makes me more than a little disgusted. People don't eat wolves, and killing predators to protect a bunch of overglorified tundra cattle (caribou) so that people can shoot more of the latter is just not kosher.

i'm not a hunter...i don't get it....to kill something just to kill it is preposterous to me....however people who hunt for food and use bow and arrow i have no problem with...but this is just sick....this is out and out murder....there is no "hunting" involved...no skill....just killing....and if suzie chapstick is in favor of this then my question is....will she allow herself to be locked into a small area and let wolves hunt her?

A company was trying to do that in Texas. You would log onto their web page pay the fee and then using the mouse aim and shoot at an animal.

Nope, can't shoot Caribou from a plane, just the predators...I don;t know enough to have an opinion on this, and I don;t think the links here provide the whole story.

Either way they are protecting the Caribou for what so they themselves can go out and hunt it.
