The First Amendment

How ironic. Just as I was just about to post this the discussion thread is closed.
THE FIRST FUCKING AMENDMENT!!!
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
Hippiemom, you are technically right. The 1st amendment curtails the power of government. But the end results are rights held by the People. Now I understand this is a private board, but if you are serious about the free interchange of ideas, why on earth is there the need to close threads that have the opportunity to open up serious and constructive discussion. Wow.
Shocked.

free interchange of ideas (whatever that means) is great...but being a dick about it is not...you admit to "stirring the pot", and somehow you're shocked when the thread is locked...
oddly, I find that shocking....0 -

I was banned for a whole day for calling someone a dumbass. Guess my affiliation...
I don't have enough fingers and toes to count all the names I've been called. That's why it's better to just be a smartass around here and limit your thoughtful debate because you're almost certain to recieve none in return. Too bad I've probably bought enough CDs to keep this forum afloat. I take that back... I love my CDs."Sarcasm: intellect on the offensive"

forgive me, ricky...I see you misread my post...I said "being a dick about it"...which here means: you don't have to act like a pompus, know-it-all, attention seeking child, when attempting to make a point...
hope that clears things up....

debate and the exchange of ideas can only work towards changing the world when the massive audience of "humanity" becomes intelligent enough to listen as ignorant individuals open to any and all possibilities for growth and improvement.
sorry, i seem to have become the barer of bad news alot lately,..
but at least we can all mellow down a bit and try to honestly enjoy all of the childish arguing the 1700's have afforded a-right to....

It's really too bad, because I really love this band and have been on this board since it's inception and to see it change and become about this radical political crap instead of the music is just too bad. Ya know I went years without even looking at this Moving Train thing and then stumbled in. Wish I wouldn't have. Makes me kinda sad there are the kinds of people the band has attracted now.
If you are looking for some good intelligent music talk, join the Who's board. It's a welcome relief and totally apolitical....0 -

The funny thing is I am a life long democrat, never voted for a Republican in my life (ok one) and I am the subject of attack. Go figure.0 -
