I am just pointing out that there are specific reasons given for exemption from getting the vaccine and "not wanting it" is not one of them. So I asked if you would be OK with forcibly injecting people with this vaccine if theor resaon was that they didnt want it. If you agree that force should not be used, then the only other option is to make it voluntary.
In my opinion it should be voluntary and offered through the school system or your own doctor. And certainly any risk associated with both using or rejecting the vaccine should be clearly stated so that a person/parent can make an informed decision.

I think it should be voluntary as well. And if the person doesn't want it, how hard is it to say that b/c of my religion, which I'm chosing to keep private, I don't want it? I guess the hard part becomes with the "not wanting it" option is where does that end? But if I were forced to make a decision on this I'd make it completely optional to people over 18 and strongly encouraged in girls under 18 with limited excemptions.

move to michigan and join the militias then. they're already preparing to defend us from the fascist regime.

good thing we didn't have to rely on you to win our freedom.

if we did we'd all be drinking tea and talking with British accents.

It's ok...you're kinda like the cindy sheehan of shots. You have valid points but your delivery is kinda wacky. :)

I'd really like to read exactly how you went about getting your kid into school without immunizations.

    You were successful, right?

that doesn't sound so bad, chicks dig british accents. my midwestern accent isnt cutting it.

im willing to join a revolution once i see something worth revolting over. free vaccines to kids who need them doesn't seem like such a bad thing to me.

Just because I (and many others) agree with a viewpoint, doesn't make us sheep. It is dangerous to take any stance (majority or minority) on an issue without getting the knowledge to understand the issue.

I could just as easily call you a sheep for choosing to believe that all vaccines are bad based on non-scientific sources, but as we agreed yesterday everyone is entitled to have their own opinion.

Giving a child a vaccine that wants a vaccine is great. Forcing a child to have a vaccine against the caregivers wishes is a violation of rights.

We are treading the line where we can start to justify a government program of sterilization using the justification that it's for the world's good.

  • Whats the problem here. We have conclusive scientific proof this thing could save thousands of lives a year. No brainer. If I had a daughter, shed get the shot. Hell id give it to her myself

Ok, I'm not a parent either, but ...

Vaccinations are required for children to attend public schools (and most private or parochial schools). These vaccines are for infectious diseases (measles, mumps, rubella) and 1 sexually transmitted disease (hep B). They protect kids from getting and transmitting SERIOUS and life threatening diseases. Hence, why the flu vax isn't required, but highly recommended.

Shouldn't be mandatory, but is good to have.

If you wanna say forced, then yeah. It is a public health issue ... so we don't have epidemic outbreaks of serious but preventable diseases. And no matter what JamMastaE says, the vaccines have been proven to be safe and effective.

I got the HPV vaccine 'cause I don't want to get cervical cancer. Since the only other way to not get cervical cancer is to never have sex ... I chose screaming orgasms and 3 shots in the arm.
  • My fiance is adamant against mandatory vacciness....simply for her reasoning that any woman who is having sex SHOULD go for a yearly pap test and that such....just doing that will prevent anything fatal (as explained by her gyno.)....since the development of the disease is reliatively slow you would not see no cancer to cancer in one year....mandatory vaccines are absurd IMHO.....especially for young children.....this is type of crap that I do not want the government dictating policy.....
