as long as the poor chicken doesnt feel any pain before we....
cut its little head off....
pluck its feathers out....
butcher its little body into bite size little pieces.......
cover it with flour and spices.....
and then drop those body parts in to hot oil......
Take me piece by piece..... Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....
from the looks of the pictures, you could make a movie and call it "Chicken Hostel" and the one chicken escapes in the end and gets revenge on his tormenter. or would that be HER tormenter since males are roosters?
but anyway, ALL animals (including humans) add to the ecosystem or whatever as being either predators or prey. that's the way life works. and when it comes to prey, chickens are at the bottom of the pecking order. not only are they eaten by people, but they're also preyed on by dogs, foxes, hawks, snakes, alligators, and just about any other animal that can get their mouth on a chicken. do I think people in general eat more meat than is good for them? yes. but being food for other animals is the ONLY purpose that a chicken serves. they bring nothing to the proverbial table except themselves. and if you think human's way of slaughtering chickens is bad, you should see how snakes and hawks handle them. congratulations on the new pet, but I bet he/she won't be as much fun as a cuddly puppy.
Here is a video of a german slaughterhouse/Schlachthause. It explains how they make the food, shows how they chop up the pigs and drain their blood out to make Black Pudding.
For those of you who understand german, or just one to see some really graphic stuff.
I necessarily have the passion for writing this, and you have the passion for condemning me; both of us are equally fools, equally the toys of destiny. Your nature is to do harm, mine is to love truth, and to make it public in spite of you. - Voltaire

But are we not more civilized than a lion? Isn't it our duty as greater beings to use our conscience for the good of fellow creatures?
Not really, the whole ecosystem has evolved with us in mind. If we stop eating animals they will over run us or we will over run them. The way we are doing it now necissitates their existance, so they will always exist.

Like I said earlier, I have no problem with the idea of eating meat. It's the sickening, inhumane procedures that companies use to prepare that meat that's the problem.
It's a town full of losers and I'm pulling out of here to win

Well, seing as chickens are inhuman, does it matter if we are inhumane?
If you get madcow or something, then yea, that's reason to be alarmed.

evolution doesn't have purpose, it doesn't have anything 'in mind'. when an organism is confronted with a certain situation the ones best adapted survive and reproduce, passing their genes on, slowly changing the face (or fur, or toenail) of that organism, sorry, this is one of those things that bugs me.
No problem can be solved from the same consciousness that created it.

...it's not about the fact that we eat chicken. We all love to eat chicken.
It's HOW that chicken gets on your plate that's the problem.
How does a zebra get on a lion's plate?
