I agree, I don't believe that eating chicken and other meats are bad, why? Because we as humans, are supposed to be omnivorous...and it's just fucking tasty. I do however, agree that the way these animals are slaughtered are sick, the method should be changed, and I believe the laws should be changed so that there are less painful methods to kill the animal.

Maybe we should go back to the good old way of biting their necks until they stop moving. You know, the way most carnivorous animals kill their pray. Would that be politically correct?

I don't think I could eat something that's just five different shades of brown.

from the looks of the pictures, you could make a movie and call it "Chicken Hostel" and the one chicken escapes in the end and gets revenge on his tormenter. or would that be HER tormenter since males are roosters?

but anyway, ALL animals (including humans) add to the ecosystem or whatever as being either predators or prey. that's the way life works. and when it comes to prey, chickens are at the bottom of the pecking order. not only are they eaten by people, but they're also preyed on by dogs, foxes, hawks, snakes, alligators, and just about any other animal that can get their mouth on a chicken. do I think people in general eat more meat than is good for them? yes. but being food for other animals is the ONLY purpose that a chicken serves. they bring nothing to the proverbial table except themselves. and if you think human's way of slaughtering chickens is bad, you should see how snakes and hawks handle them. congratulations on the new pet, but I bet he/she won't be as much fun as a cuddly puppy.

All this analysis....because someone posted a picture of a chicken dinner from Popeye's.

Apparently the avian brain isn't very well understood at all. It's researched a fair amount because birds have complex patterns of behavior. They could model a worm with a limited number of neurons, however they only have basic behavior and don't serve much use as an artificial brain.

I checked out http://www.avianbrain.org and got the impression that although the avian brain has been studied a lot, they don't really know how it works. I guess it makes sense that birds would have evolved brains differently than other species. Not every brain is going to be like ours. We have consciousness that allows us some ability, we aren't sure what it is. That may not be true for birds, or all other animals. It may have evolved in us or apes, maybe dogs or cats, maybe birds, cows and pigs. But what is it, how do you classify it, describe it and detect it?

We know that evolution works on a chance - selection process on the cellular level. Any and all organisms developed by some kind of chance. It may be safe to assume then that all brains would be different. However, we can just look at similarities, such as eyes, tongues, lips, ears, limbs, etc.. to see that there is a system, there has to be laws that we aren't aware of. There is no way a totally random chance occurrence out of a googolplex could consistently produce the exact same things. I mean we are talking about billions of billions, trillions of mutations to make a single human organ, yet we share those organs with many other species. Plants on the other hand are completely different. They soak up water and use sunlight to convert the water and carbon or something to energy. So, there is some variation, but there are similarities between plants as well.

In the rural South, you can purchase chicken beaks and feet in small town grocery stores...........some folks use them in soups and stews.

The feathers are about the only thing doesn't get turned into something for use when a chicken goes into a processing plant.

The proper plucking process is probably not cost effective for the Tyson's and Goldkists of the world......:)

  • Back when we were hunting and gathering it was necessary for us to kill these animals...these days it is done on a massive genocidal scale...profiting..we've found other means of making food and still maintain a robust diet...fat people take too much space then all these animals combined...people should eat less meat.

Genocide: : The deliberate and systematic destruction of a racial, political, or cultural group

I'm not quite sure what racial, political or cultural group chickens belong to? But they sure taste good, I am conspiring to perpetuate the chicken genocide.
