In no particular order
Unfettered rights to birth control and abortion
Unfettered right to breastfeed
Genital integrity (against circumcision of newborn males)
Freedom from religion in public policy
Global warming
Living wage ~ I'd happily pay more for products and services if it would alleviate the burdon of the working poor. The kids of today should defend themselves against the Seventies Nineties.0 -
- Making abortion illegal
- Helping the environment
- Banning the death penalty
- Opposing war
- PovertyThe only people we should try to get even with...
...are those who've helped us.
Right 'round the corner could be bigger than ourselves.0 -

-3rd world neglect/poverty (Africa in particular)
-war opposition
-health care0 -
-Mentoring kids (Big Brothers/Big Sisters)
-National forest/park protection
-Third world country aid
-Wildlife protection"She knows there is no success like failure
And that failure's no success at all."

- improving education and integration systems
- stop child abuse in any ways
- Freedom of speak
- improve social welfare and security around the work place and get a task for everyone!
- Protect LIFE and Earth in generalthere is no way to peace, peace is the way!
...the world is come undone, I like to change it everyday but change don't come at once, it's a wave, building before it breaks.0 -
Animals - all
Environment - protection, conservancy
Abortion - pro-choice
After getting on too many "lists" however, I now just act locally."I'd rather be with an animal." "Those that can be trusted can change their mind." "The in between is mine." "If I don't lose control, explore and not explode, a preternatural other plane with the power to maintain." "Yeh this is living." "Life is what you make it."0 -
the debt of developing countries ("third world" debt in other words)
the spread of capitalism and the problems this causes for communities
child and animal abuse
the environment
racism"We have to change the concept of patriotism to one of “matriotism” — love of humanity that transcends war. A matriarch would never send her own children off to wars that kill other people’s children." Cindy Sheehan

I hear ya...
After getting on some conservation lists and groups I was innundated with huge amounts of mail and email requesting money and services.
I understand it's how those groups survive though..."She knows there is no success like failure

given this list i think the more appropriate question would be what social cause is NOT your thingthat covers basically every social issue in existence right now, hehe.

wow, good to see that people care, because sometimes when i go out, it makes me wonder about people
- thinking about where my food comes from, usually i try to buy local (less fuel for transport, fresh picked fruit, support my community), but now in the winter i buy organic (it's gonna travel the distance, so i might as well try to minimize something)
-non-car transportation, even in the winter, i'm still riding my bike, walking, or when the snow gets too deep, i'll take the subway, i worked in the burbs this summer, and it killed me to see at least one hummer every day, not to mention those other monsters
-try to buy clothes that weren't made by small sri lanken children (this one is hard though 'cause i'm but a poor student)
- also, try to buy clothes that don't have petro-chemicals in them, which means that i tend to buy leather shoes over the 'vegan' alternative, even though i'm veg
- conservation of biodiversity (i've dedicated my life to this one, it's the topic of my thesis, and hopefully i'll find work in this field later)
-oh, and how could i forget, i'm veggie, which stems from my feelings for animal rights
-my other one is sort of a smaller 'cause' i'm a mountain biker/climber, and i'm trying to promote low-impact use of trails and climbing areas, you'd be suprised how destructive some of these 'outdoor' people are
causes that i care about, and am basically not doing anything about, and am asking you guys to help me figure out how to do something about:
- poverty, as someone said, the rich are getting richer, the poor are dying a miserable death
- FORGIVING THIRD WORLD DEBT!!
- legalizing maryjane (well, i'm sort of doing something about this, in a rather roundabout way)
- making the elderly a more important part of our society, i mean, we send them off to live in deplorable homes, we don't care about them at all, it's awful
- pro-choice!! i just found out that even though in canada, where abortion is legal, they don't teach it at med-school, my bro (who i am infinitely proud of because of this) is in his 3rd year at med school, and had to go to a private clinic to learn how to do abortions
you kids sound like an active group, so i'll recomend it here, you should go read "race against time" by steven lewis, he's the UN special envoy on HIV/AIDS in Africa, and the book is a collection of lectures he gave in canada, it's quite eye openingNo problem can be solved from the same consciousness that created it.
