Anyone notice in Obamas speech...

  • I think there are plenty of tears going around today...I'd also venture to guess that th emajority of the tears of joy are fake...like Jesse Jackson...staged tears. Pretty pathetic.

While I detest Jesse Jackson for the most part, and his actions have set race relations back years in this country, you can't really judge whether someone else's emotions are real or fake. Even the worst people are emotionally moved sometimes.

  • I noticed that. That really underscored the difference between the tone of these two campaigns.

    indeed.

although it IS easier to be gracious and cheer when you are on the winning side. however, overall...i agree. i DO think mccain was quite gracious and unifying in his speech, even if his supporters weren't. obama was awesome!

one very obvious thing i noticed, and i am sure many did as well: looking out at the crowds at each then-candidate's gatherings, what completely DIFFERENT demographics! mccain's camp: predominantly white, male and middle aged. obama camp: all colors of the rainbow, all ages, both genders well represented. granted, i realize chicago is much more diverse than phoenix, but none the less.....it speaks volumes to me.

    Who boos after winning?
    Phucking Philadelphia Phillies phans.

Seriously (off topic I know) did anyone see after the World Series when the owner congratulated the Rays for a great season/series and the Philly fans starting booing? So yes, there are people classless enough to boo even after they've won.

When the McCain party guests were booing, and he had that embarrassed look on his face, all I could think was McCain is so much better than most of the yahoos who voted for him.

His speech was great, though. It's like he immediately went back to being the McCain I loved in 2000, now that he no longer had to be the asshole we've seen in the past few months.

It's kind of sad that the real John McCain didn't come out until last night.

I had a thought cross my mind last night as I was watching McCain's speech and it may fall a bit into the wacky conspiracy category. I was think that maybe the GOP used McCain. The party leaders really didn't want this onetime Maverick to win the presidency. they used him as a vehicle to get their new rising star, Sarah Palin, more national exposure for a presidential run in 2012. Like I said the thought just crossed my mind for a second but it definitely made me wonder.

I agree totally. I was actually undecided until Palin came into the picture and the campaign turned into an ugly fear fest. :)

personally, i don't think they truly wanted to win. i think they even realize what a fucked mess they've masterminded, what an absolute mess to dig out from under, and sure...realized the current administration is sooo despised at this point. to me, palin was an insult to mccain, to this country. if they truly see her as the future of their party, i am ascared for this country...and i would hope if this election proves nothing else....america as a whole does NOT want someone like palin in our exectutive branch of the federal government. i think this election is a big lesson for the reps, and i hope they learn from it...for the good of all.

I agree with the fact that there was a different McCain from the Repub Convention on than we saw last night and prior to the campaign. If he got to run the campaign his way, without the Rove B.S. He would have had a much better shot and nobody would know who Sarah Palin is.

Maybe some of them will even send formal letters of apology to Palin and her family.

Ha she went to great lengths to spread hate and fear... she can go fuck herself!!!

At least McCain showed some class when the racists started their rantings at his rallies.

    That he said

A little bit earlier this evening, i received an extroadinarily gracious call from Senator McCain.......

and the obama supporters cheered. not booed. cheered. I was extremely proud to see that.

My 8 year old son commented on that while watching the speeches.. because he was so shocked when the McCain crowd booed the mention of Obama.

Dramatically shows the respect level on both sides.

Settle petal. You are blind if you think that Palin was the only one who should get a formal letter of apology.

Did you notice that during McCains speech, he mentioned obama, and his supporters booed? McCain asked them to stop. Obama didn't have to ask his supporters to stop. They never started.

    Of course you didn't

Right on. McCain's folks booed like a bunch of sore losers, while Obama's folks clapped and recognized a valiant effort from their opponent....CLASS!

I beg to differ. Al Sharpton is far worse than Jesse Jackson.

Again...except for Philly fans apparently...most winners have that class...because they won. It's not necessarily because of who they are, it's because of the outcome.

If McCain ahd one, I'd be willing to bet big bucks that plenty of people in Chicago would have been booing.

The difference is that one pile of shit can fit in the palm of your hand while the other is as big as your head.

 OH MY GOD!!! I NEVER thought I'd see you vote Democrat! The posts I've seen from you have been very staunchly conservative. I'm proud of you for having the strength and courage to not base your vote on how you've historically voted and opened yourself up to change. I know you don't feel right...like you've somehow betrayed yourself...but please give it some time Cincy...keep your mind open and you might find that you feel differently in a year or so...at least I hope Obama does a good enough job for this to happen.

I noticed that and appreciated that. What I also noticed is that during Mccains speech, people were booing for Obama. Mccain gave a VERY respectful speech and I liked that alot, yet all his supporters could do was boo. Grow up and listen to him, even Mccain recognized that we need change and that we should just join sides and make peace.

Neither did I. And yes, I don't feel very good about it for a lot of reasons, but the Republicans offered me little choice and the 3rd parties, while I considered 1, didn't do it for me either.

It's kinda weird to see all the happy people on TV...have the guy you voted for win...and still feel so worried about it all.

I hope you corrected your son and didn't buy into the BS...if McCain had won, people would have not only booed McCain's name in Chicago, they just might have burnt the place ot the ground.
