except that I would like to believe there is something intelligent that created our planet. When you look at the intricacy of a flower, or a seashell, it just seems too beautiful to have been created randomly.
But when it comes down to a "rational being" who has supremacy over all humans, I can't help but wonder....where the hell is that being now??Feels Good Inc.0 -
Athiest, I never explain myself to anybody. My favourite is when a religious client is pleased with me, and tries to attribute my good qualities to religion, and I have to burst their bubble. It's almost like I am daring them to think less of me, but since they have just praised me, it's pretty hard. They have to admit theat athiests can be good people too. It's fun being evil !!Music is not a competetion.0

Hard Determinist Anti-theist. But you all knew that
I necessarily have the passion for writing this, and you have the passion for condemning me; both of us are equally fools, equally the toys of destiny. Your nature is to do harm, mine is to love truth, and to make it public in spite of you. - Voltaire0 -
If I had to label my ultimate sense of purpose, I'd have to say it's "truth". Evil always has dishonesty as an accomplice. I think there are a lot of people who are in search of something "greater", but at the same time they're overlooking what is right beneath their noses.0

Brettkeane on youtube gets a priest to say that it's God's Law to stone disobedient children and hang homosexuals. Because we are all God's property. But the priest didn't want to say this, it was all he could say to rationalize the text in the Bible. He'd sooner say that it's okay to stone disobedient children than say God's word is flawed. It's seems to me the priest stumbled upon a truth and ignored it.I necessarily have the passion for writing this, and you have the passion for condemning me; both of us are equally fools, equally the toys of destiny. atheists are as certain that there is no god as you are certain that there is and jesus is his son. agnostics aren't really willing to shut the door on either possibility... god or no god.0 -

that's an incredibly fucked up thing to say to a mother who just lost her daughter.0 -

I'm very confident in calling myself agnostic. Although I will be the first to point out my Catholic upbringing as being my moral center......not sure if thats the right word.
I still haven't figured out what or how my parents raised me to be a 'good' person, but I have had many people say that I am. And the only thing I can think of that caused me to be 'good' is the teachings of the bible.
My big beef with relgion (aside from God in genral)is, from what has been said in here already, is the constant judging of others. Clearly some people weren't paying attention in church to say the mean spirtited things they said.
The other thing that bothers me is tolerance of others beliefs. I am of the mindset that if it works for you great. Believe in what you want, I wont hold it against you. But I've had several relationships with girls not pan out because...well, I wasn't Christian/Religous.
I just don't understand how faith in God plays that big of role in some peoples lives that they choose to ignore people that don't agree with them.0 -

I was raised Faith Lutheran and I thought about this as well. To be honest I found that all of my morals came from child-rearing and children's books. One-on-one parenting imbibed me with most of them and they were corroborated by children's stories.I just don't understand how faith in God plays that big of role in some peoples lives that they choose to ignore people that don't agree with them.
I was curious about that too. I found an answer in the brain.I necessarily have the passion for writing this, and you have the passion for condemning me; both of us are equally fools, equally the toys of destiny. Isn't it though??? feck, I could NOT believe someone would say that. my friend's parents have never really recovered(how could one??? ) from the loss of their daughter and people like that sure don't help much.0 -

no, why would i need to make up with either of them?
my one sister and i have an on-going agreement that she doesn't mention her religion to me and I don't tell her that she's bat-shit crazy for believing her religion
the other one really does go into churches and befriends sick and elderly folks. she gains their trust by telling them that what a holy, God fearing, Jesus loving, good Christian woman she is. then she proceeds get them to sign over power of attorney to her so that she steal everything they own. even going so far as to expose her then 9 year old daughter to a child molester so that she could run her scam on an Uncle of ours. she's a disgusting excuse for a human being. and I do not consider myself any relation to her and neither does my brother or my other sister.
I may not be a Christian or "have a relationship with God" but i'm not a thief, i'm a not liar, I don't do anything to harm others. I can be quite kind and compassionate to others without expecting anything in return. so yeah if that makes me an ebil, ebil heathen headed to hell than so fucking be it

OMG..that is terrible. terrible. I have always believed in being a good person and not hurting others and helping where you can. Honestly being a decent person is far better than pretending to be a saint .0 -

right....and being a decent person isn't at all dependent on being religious or in having any kind of belief in God.
my ex-sister was so shady and out to rip people off to that a couple of years before our Mom died my brother had to move in to protect Mom from her because she lived next door. I feel so awful for my neice....she's home schooled and always has been so all that child has ever known is the insanity of her parents.

I guess I can be considered agnostic. I believe that there is something out there greater than ourselves."When one gets in bed with government, one must expect the diseases it spreads." - Ron Paul0
