  • Milli Vanilli won a grammy too. That should tell you all you need to know about the importance of the grammys.

LOL because you can sing 3 part harmonys, write songs, play the violin, and perfrom in front of thousands without screwing up.

They may not be your cup of tea, and they may in your opinion be inferior to most. They do however have talent, and that is undeniable.

btw, the Grammy's Milli Vanilli won was for their songs right? Are they any less deserving because less attractive people sang them? It was an indictment of the record business and the music industry for sure, but one could easily argue that the work produced deserved best new artist. (worst category ever anyways)

A 2.5% difference in popular vote totals does not a mauling make, but O.K.

The Dixie Chicks mauled whoever their competitors were.
  • Well I don't like the type of music they make but I don't think they won because of the antiwar thing, which was a while ago now anyway. I expect it raised their profile a bit but I bet the grammy was for their album, whatever that sounds like.

  • The Dixie Chicks were winning awards before they ever spoke out against Bush and the war. A lot of people like Miller didn't start hating them to the extent they do until the Dixie Chicks said something those people disagreed with. How close minded to think that everyone in the country music industry must all conform to the same opinion.

    Right on the head, there.
The Dixie Chicks were the darlings of Country Music up until one moment... nothing to do with their singing or songwriting... nothing to do with their guitar or fiddle playing. Because of their opinion.
It does go to show the mindset of some people.

    Dixie Chicks. Synonomous with:

    Talented.
    Intelligient.
    Fierce.
    Beautiful.
    True.
    American.

I've liked them since their first album; I love them now. I'll take an actual *musician* over a *musical artist* any day and high quality musicana are who those ladies are. And Natalie's voice is fierce...and it was just so last night. To say otherwise is nothing short of a lie. You dont have to like them to appreciate their guts and talent.

And damned if Natalie (actually all 3 of them) doesn't look better as she gets older. And brunette. Gorgeous.

The dixie chicks have always blown...but they only got that award because of the LIBERAL bias of the grammy's.

I won't lie, that thought popped into my head right away. I figured they win. It's what the elitist liberals do, they give eachother awards to validate each other's opinions. Oh, and to try and be cool. ;)

Did anyone else think that there 'speeches' were a bit too confrontational really? They certainly didn;t prove anyhting to anyone that didn;t like their message. It was kinda sad really.

Certainly you can see that the movies and music industry swings a certain way, and I'm not talking about Melissa Ethridge.

But anyhow, it's hardly much to talk about really. A bit of an interesting aside though.

I think they won because the Grammys are a load of crap. Tell me the last time a really good album won album of the year. In my opinion it was back in 1988 when U2 won for Joshua Tree.

They were already winning awards was the point. What did they win their earlier awards for? Were the grammy people mind readers? psychics? Did they sense the force? Give it a rest, your liberal hating sideshow is getting tired.
