I would think that the Chili peppers winning is a greater testimony to the fact that the Grammys suck.

  • Have you listened to the album?

It's actually very well done, and they are very talented.

    They sounded awful live too.

  • But they did make a pretty loud anti war statement by elevating their status to music industry elite...

just more votes against this administration and its war. and a collective slap in the face to the Country Music community for censoring their radio stations in support of war.

See thats the problem..the only reason they won is because they were against the war. Not because they...hold hold....Actually had good music!

Really? Then why didn't Neil Young win with his "Let's impeach the president?" Or better yet, PJ w/ "Worldwide Suicide"?

    Cause they aren't women. ;)

Personally, I don't care about he Dixie Chicks. They can say whatever they want and their fans and the people that elect to play their music can react to whatever they say anyway they want (free speech goes both ways). And free speech doesn't protect you from public backlash.

Teh first Grammy they won, they kinda had a 'Take that' attitude. Fine, good for them I guess. They stuck to theiur beliefs and still wona grammy. Then they kept that same attitude all night. It got a bit stupid.

I didn't realize that the suckiness of the Grammy awards was something that people still debated. I thought it was pretty much a foregone conclusion.

It's a good thing they won an award that really means nothing then...just to irritate hateful people like you.

Not to mention, the only reason they got slack for their Anti-Bush remarks is because they are country music...."Bush lovers" music.
  • Milli Vanilli won a grammy too. That should tell you all you need to know about the importance of the grammys.

LOL because you can sing 3 part harmonys, write songs, play the violin, and perfrom in front of thousands without screwing up.

They may not be your cup of tea, and they may in your opinion be inferior to most. They do however have talent, and that is undeniable.

btw, the Grammy's Milli Vanilli won was for their songs right? Are they any less deserving because less attractive people sang them? It was an indictment of the record business and the music industry for sure, but one could easily argue that the work produced deserved best new artist. (worst category ever anyways)

A 2.5% difference in popular vote totals does not a mauling make, but O.K.

The Dixie Chicks mauled whoever their competitors were.
  • Well I don't like the type of music they make but I don't think they won because of the antiwar thing, which was a while ago now anyway. I expect it raised their profile a bit but I bet the grammy was for their album, whatever that sounds like.

  • The Dixie Chicks were winning awards before they ever spoke out against Bush and the war. A lot of people like Miller didn't start hating them to the extent they do until the Dixie Chicks said something those people disagreed with. How close minded to think that everyone in the country music industry must all conform to the same opinion.
