Bush The Liberator

WASHINGTON (AFP) – George W. Bush hopes history will see him as a president who liberated millions of Iraqis and Afghans, who worked towards peace and who never sold his soul for political ends.
"I'd like to be a president (known) as somebody who liberated 50 million people and helped achieve peace," Bush said in excerpts of a recent interview released by the White House Friday.
"I would like to be a person remembered as a person who, first and foremost, did not sell his soul in order to accommodate the political process. I came to Washington with a set of values, and I'm leaving with the same set of values."
He also said he wanted to be seen as a president who helped individuals, "that rallied people to serve their neighbor; that led an effort to help relieve HIV/AIDS and malaria on places like the continent of Africa; that helped elderly people get prescription drugs and Medicare as a part of the basic package."
Bush added that every day during his eight-year presidency he had consulted the Bible and drawn comfort from his faith.
The interview, which Bush recorded with First Lady Laura Bush, will be stored in the library of Congress and a museum devoted to the Bush presidency

Sure he liberated millions of people. He liberated them from life.0 -

Not to mention the million or so that lost their lives because of HIS lies.

Initially I thought this came from The Onion, then I realised the article was serious.0

George Bush is no Simon Bolivar.
what a fucking sad, sad joke. . .0 -

No better way of putting it.
He's just having a little joke with us.Keep on rockin in the free world!!!!
The economy has polarized to the point where the wealthiest 10% now own 85% of the nation’s wealth. Never before have the bottom 90% been so highly indebted, so dependent on the wealthy.0 -
The sad thing is, I think he truly believes there is nothing amiss about those comments. That's been the real tragedy of the Bush admin... he's so out of touch with reality he doesn't even realize how absurd and incongruent his actions have been.
Helped combat AIDS? He refused to fund anything that gave contraception over there... only abstinence programs. What a sick fucking joke.she was underwhelmed, if that's a word0 -

And for me, I can see what he means.....if we can remember that the ego is very tricky...we believe the stuff it tells us about who we are--our justifications for the horrible things that we do.
We all fall into this trap. It's the same ego, though, that prevents us from realizing when WE do it..........."The opposite of a fact is falsehood, but the opposite of one profound truth may very well be another profound truth." ~ Niels Bohr

word.
Although calling him Hitler is kind of an apples/oranges comparison in my view.
Bush I, Clinton, and Bush II have been crucial to the destruction of this nation. History will have the final say on that.
But most regular folks enjoy their ignorance, very frustrating.0 -

Nothing "acting" about it. I think Dick Cheney knows exactly what he's doing, as did Rumsfeld. I think they also knew they had the perfect puppet in Dubya... a man so delusional and simple-minded that he could help sell unconscionable actions to the American public with his dim-witted, down-home hokum.
I think Bush is a true believer, and truly believes he has been some force for good in the world. It's the men behind him that know exactly what he's doing and don't care.she was underwhelmed, if that's a word0 -

I definatley agree with you. Bush is a puppet to a group of people who don't have the American public's best interest at heart. They want to make the rich richer and the poor poorer. It's been a long 8 years and I'm ready to turn over a new leaf.He who forgets will be destined to remember.

being that he will go down as THE WORST US President in history, he needs to spin his legacy in some way that he feels may be perceived as positive....

Yes, he is! And you just admitted he is a puppet which tells me he doesn't have the integrity or ingenuity to think for himself. Oh, and to top it off he's the leader of the free world. Scary. He who forgets will be destined to remember.

Bush most certainly has the integrity to think and act for himself, he does it all the time, it's called looking out for #1...himself.Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

I don't think he's stupid per se. But I do think he does not truly understand the implications of his actions upon the world. I think he truly believes that what he has been doing makes the world a better place because it is God's plan. That is why he's been so effective and managed to get reelected... he has that true believer quality that made people believe in him against their own interests and better judgment.she was underwhelmed, if that's a word0 -
