    I don't think the 16th amendment will ever be repealed, but we can at least try to change our current method of taxation.

    I totally agree that our media elects our presidents. The fact that not one vote has been cast yet in the primaries and the media has already selected the winners, on either side.

    As far as the IRS being disbanded, it is going to be a tough up hill struggle but proposals like the Fair Tax are gaining momentum.

    It's not impossible by any stretch. It's simply not going to happen based on the makeup of Congress and the political philosophies that drive this country.

    It would take a supermajority in Congress to repeal the amendment. It would take a simple majority to just repeal or modify the taxes.

    In the hypothetical case that Ron Paul were elected, significant tax reform certainly would be likely. But Ron's not going to get elected anyway.

    Hehehe. This is when your plan kicks in -- the one where everyone bands together and voluntarily kicks in their share to pay for infrastructure and military protection. Aint gonna happen.

    Never said it was going to happen. I don't think it will happen. That won't stop me from supporting Mr. Paul with a very clear conscience though. And if he walks away from an election with 1% of a vote, I'll know that there are still a few people out there who wish to deal with their fellow men with honesty instead of force.

    Federal Income tax wasn't in full force among all the states until after 1913, yet our military defense was intact, even after a Civil War.

    For some reason, the Ron Paul campaign is now obsessed with counting subscriptions to the individual youtube candidate channels. The latest in a string of 5-6 press releases on this:

    Twice as Many, Twice
    Congressman Ron Paul now has twice as many YouTube subscribers as all of the other Republican candidates for president combined. Here are the numbers:

    Paul - 12,103

    Romney - 2,059
    Giuliani - 1,429
    McCain - 1,291
    Hunter - 413
    Huckabee - 342
    Tancredo - 211
    Brownback - 111
    Gilmore - 60
    Thompson - 0
    Total - 5,916

    Congressman Paul also has twice as many YouTube subscribers as Barack Obama who has 5,988, and nearly four times as many as Hillary Clinton who has 3,517 subscribers.

    That is good news indeed. Should be an interesting debate. I wonder if he will take it right to Guiliani the first chance he gets.

    I just hope he has an opportunity to better-state his position on that stage. He handled the last exchange poorly, and I'd really like him to come out firing with the same principles but a more complete and coherent message. The ideas themselves will be best served if he puts them forward on their own, as opposed to making it about Guiliani's understanding or lack thereof. I'd prefer it if he gets America thinking about principles instead of thinking just about Giuliani. But either way, I'm glad to see him still fighting. I expected to see him throw in the towel after the last debate. Go Ron....

    Well I think he will be better prepared this time around. I also thought he was done after the last debate but I think support for him grew and maybe he realized that even though his chances of winning are slim he can still bring awareness to the flaws in our foreign policy and some of our domestic policies.

    This I agree with. These alternative view guys are being afforded a very rare opportunity to present these ideas to the masses. I applaud them. Winning isn't everything. Never underestimate the power of communication and awareness in influencing people unconsciously. Especially from politicians. ;)
