There are certain aspects of the US I dislike or even loathe. But this thread is about the things I like about the US, and the things you like about it.
Now obviously, there will be posters who do like the current administration, its policies and its wars, but I ask you not to mention them because it will ruin this thread even more rapidly. Please also refrain from posting insulting comments about other countries, people ... Keep the negativity out. If you have nothing good to say about the US, don't post here.
These are some of the people or things I like about the US:
American writers/poets:
Hunter S Thompson
Hemingway
Jack Kerouac
Edgar Allan Poe
Chuck Palahniuk
Robert Frost
...
American Music:
Blues in general
The Doors
Pearl Jam
Tool
Ani DiFranco
Mazzy Star
Soundgarden
Mother Love Bone
Johnny Cash
Tim & Jeff Buckley
Bob Dylan
Jimi Hendrix
...
American Actors:
Al Pacino
Johnny Depp
Robert DeNiro
Marlon Brando
Mickey Rourke
Gene Hackman
Jodie Foster
Morgan Freeman
Kevin Spacey
...
There are definitely more people like comedians, sportsmen... I'll add some later I'm a bit tired.

I like the Northwest Music scene.I necessarily have the passion for writing this, and you have the passion for condemning me; both of us are equally fools, equally the toys of destiny. Your nature is to do harm, mine is to love truth, and to make it public in spite of you. - Voltaire0

Regardless of which side of the political spectrum an American lies on I cannot help but envy the pride an American feels for their country....both sides argue and bitter but in the end they are proud of their country....just see different visions for her.....so American pride is my choice.....don't get me wrong I am a passionate Canadian but Americans just do it better.....which is a great thing to have....0

great post. i'm surprised you would even get that impression, being a poster on this board. but I agree with you. there are certain things this current administration has done and some fuck ups in the past. but I am proud to be an american.0 -

Thanks....it really comes from personal experiences with Americans....very proud....which is good....the country has done many great things to feel that way....no matter where home is mistakes will have been and will ultimately be made again....it really all comes down to whether your vantage point is represented that decade or not...may have been which is great and you show your pride proclaiming current victories...if your on the other side and disappointed you make the effort for change and the urge to fight back because you are proud of your country....0 -

I also like how diverse the country is, I've been to Florida, California and NYC and people, landscapes, everythings is so different. My experiences over there have been always extremely nice. Hopefully sooner than later I'll have the chance to go to Chicago, Boston, Seattle and NYC!!0 -

wow, nice post. i've read a lot of your posts and wouldn't have thought you'd say something like that. i don't mean you'd say shitty things about the USA, just didn't think you'd say something like that.
i love my country, warts and all. you have to take the good with the bad, just like anything else. i think what i love the most is the the fact that no matter where you go, there's always something that reminds you of home and also something you never would have seen if you hadn't travelled away from home, all in the same place.
i also dig the fact that if i'm lost while travelling, i most likely can find a fast food joint to fill my belly, a gas station to fill my tank, and a toilet to drop a deuce in."PC Load Letter?! What the fuck does that mean?"
