  • he was in your house. if you'd shot him, id have said hats off to you and glad you're not hurt. these guys were in someone else's house, he went out there and shot them as they ran away. there's a diff.

I know, your right but I put myself in that situation and I think I would do the same. I would sertenly try to stop them without killing them, but I would also not let them get away

they ran. what else could he do? it was let them get away or kill them. i'd let them go. id rather let it slide than make a mistake.

  • Yeah Joe Horn was good when he played at New Orleans but he's old now and can barely start for the Falcons... I wouldn't call him a hero.

    oh wrong Joe Horn.

the one article mentions that the law allows for lethal force for "criminal mischief at night." it's open season in texas boys. get your coon skins before they start runnin!

You do know that all Texans are not redneck dumbasses?? This is an old law that definitely needs to be changed.

One guy was on his property.

But that would never have happened had he just stayed inside. Any danger he was in was pretty much self created. While inside, he should have asked himself "is it worth possibly shooting someone or even getting shot at to save my neighbor's stuff?"

If these two guy had been armed and pulled out guns, he could have gotten one, but the other would have killed him.

And, for all the people cheering this guy, very few have actually shot anyone. I doubt he feels to great about it now. He won't be punished by the courts, but he'll be in a sort of prison for some time.
I cannot come up with a new sig till I get this egg off my face.

How is this guy your hero? I mean he is having a terrible season with 203 yards and zero touchdowns in twelve games. Oh, shoot...I thought this was a thread about the Falcon's wide receiver Joe Horn. My bad.

you mean he's not the one who shot those two dead?

too bad, he would have got some tv time despite his terrible season as you brought out.

    Esther's here and she's sick?

hi Esther, now we are all going to be sick, thanks

I read about this story. I am not sure how they turned to come after him, when he left the safety of his home to shoot them. Plus the fact that he shot both of them as they were leaving makes me think he was more interested in shooting someone then stopping a crime. I mean you would think after he shot one the other would surrender. Plus if they had already broken in and were leaving, how is shooting them stopping any crime?

if he shot them on his property; and he was outside with 911; they had to have come after him. after all; they burgled his NEIGHBOURS house. he was in his yard with a phone and a gun. why did they leave in his direction?

he did stop a crime because the stolen goods were recovered. the fact that the one left alive didn't surrender makes me think he had a weapon too. the police won't release that information until the investigation is complete.

In case you do not know who he is, he is all over the news for shooting two young black guys who broke into his neighbors home and when they went to flee he told them to stop. He said they turned to come after him and he shot them both. They died on his property.
I am sure there are many people here who say that what he did was wrong but that is a load of crap. Its sad that they died but that kind of bullshit cannot be allowed. If they were breaking into my house I would expect my neighbor to do the same.
he was on the phone with the dispatcher for over 8 minutes. The cops took way too long.

(Sorry that I did not post the story)

if you're my neighbour; i'd do the same.

make a difference eh? last i checked... yup... people are still committing crimes. i believe there was another one in chicago yesterday. damn, we were so close!

    NOT IN HORN'S NEIGHBOURHOOD!

yeah, but don't worry. texans will know the difference and understand that boys will be boys. so you're safe... well, if you're white. if you're black... you're probably a thug.

you're doing your best to remove the criminal element in this case and make it about race; yet you say horn was itching to shoot someone anyway. you're talking out of both sides of your mouth like a democratic hopefull.

he's not right. they were killed on horn's property. texas has a law that it's illegal to shoot someone in the back. and texas also has an express lane for the death penalty. the fact that he wasn't arrested on the spot tells me that they were not running away. texas law would give him the death penalty if he shot them in the back; no matter what colour they were. it was texas that jailed 2 border agents for life after shooting an illegal sneeking over the border. texas law is tough be it speeding or murder.

btw; did you teach your wife how to use a gun after your incident? if so; tell her the number one thing that gets an armed citizen killed by their own gun is hesitation. police are taught to use the "seven yard rule". 7 yards is the time it takes a practiced person to draw; aim; and fire. if you let them get closer; they'll disarm you. if they're armed; SHOOT. as fast as you can. NEVER shoot someone in the back. you'll go to jail.

Yeah, whatever happened to a nice bullet in the leg, some good old incapacitation just so they are out of action long enough for the cops to come and they can receive a punishment befitting the crime, y'know, as opposed to being blown away for burglary.

    Some hero.

Therein lies America's problem over other countries that allow the ownership of guns.
