This is getting absolutely ridiculous....STP in NJ & Live Nation fees
How many threads are out there complaining about the tour ticket prices?
You think $84 per ticket for PJ at MSG is bad? Try $59.50 for STONE TEMPLE PILOTS at an amphitheater in Holmdel, NJ. Tag on the $6 parking fee PER TICKET and the $12.60 convenience fee PER TICKET (WTF?) and you're looking at nearly $80 to see fucking STP! They aren't even on the same level!
So if you travel in a group to a show, say 6 people can fit in my Murano, I've just paid $36 to park and $75.60 to Live Nation for them to put a stamp on my envelope. I can understand concert prices being high, but talk about gouging. I thought this whole Live Nation thing was supposed to help lower those fees since TM wasn't exclusive at every venue now. Between the fees and the merch, someone is making concert goers asses bleed.
They are pricing out the very people who drive the industry...how can your average teenage fan afford to go see multiple shows? It's just like sporting events pricing out the family of 4.
Fucking STP. Seriously. That's like the $50 after fees to see Live at Starland in NJ. LIVE!!!!!!! ridiculous. I swear my first PJ tix in 1996 were $12. Amazing how quickly things change.
I'm off to put $60 worth of gas in my tank.

You bought tickets to see PJ in 1996 for $12.00, I find that VERY hard to believe, I was just looking @ some old stubs and I saw a Cheap Trick ticket stub and the price was $9.50 but that was in 1982. I would think the minimum that you would pay in 1996 would be $20.00 to $25.00.[img][/img]9/5/92, 11/20/93, 3/14,15/94, 9/16/95, 10/14,15/2000

Heres my approach. They cost what they do, either go or dont. I mean gas is gonna be 4 dollars a gallon.
Its gonna cost me an extra 50 just to go back to msg and back and thats like 150 miles each way. Compared to 2003. So the tix in 03 were 50 a piece, now the are 80. they were underpayed than, and their fanbase does not buy their albums they spend tons of time writing. They have to do something. All bands are in the same boat. Some people have religion I have Pearl Jam.
no more shows0 -

I didn't see PJ on the '96 tour, but I did see them several times in '98 and my stubs say $20.00...0 -
Yep, it's getting crazy these days. By the time I walk out of any of the 3 shows I'm going to this tour, I'll have topped $100 for the ticket and poster! I really don't buy merch anymore when I go to most concerts. After you spend $35-$60 on a ticket, can you really afford beer and a $25 t-shirt? nuts....I won't change direction, and I won't change my mind - E.V.

hey! $50 to see Live? I was at that show, I won tix from Grock Radio the day before, and couldn't believe what I was seeing. A packed house at $50 a ticket for LIVE!!! WTF? Who likes Live anymore? I went because it was free, and the economy is in the shitter, and these guys have the nerve to charge that much?

I have the stub at home and am currently at work. But I swear that Fans, Tours and Tickets 1996 phone sale was really damn cheap. Maybe not $12 after all was said and done, but I recall PJ wanting to explictly display the cost of the ticket & the cost of the fees separately on the stub. It was Merriweather Post in MD, that much I can tell you. the tickets were along the lines of $25 in 1996
the fees were a something like $3 for a bus pass (from yankee stadium to randall's island), $2 service charge and something for 50 cents....$5.50 in service charges, that's still less than PNC's parking fee!!9/29/96, 8/29/98, 9/8,11/98, 7/28/99, 8/23,24,25/00, 10/13/00, 4/15/03, 4/30/03, 7/8,9,12,14/03, 10/1/04, 9/30/05, 10/1/05, 5/4,5,13,27,28/06, 6/1,3/06, 6/19,20,22,24,25,27/08, 7/1/08, 8/4,5,7,16/08, 8/21/09, 10/27,28,30,31/09, 5/15,17,18,20,21/10, 9/2/12, 10/18,19,21,22,25/130 -
FT&T ticket from 1996: $27.50
$22.50 + 2.00 service charge + 3.00 for parking = $27.50
gas was $1.25 a gallon.
i filled up yesterday at 3.45 / gal....craziness!
edit: that's a Randall's Island, NY ticket"Find myself singing the same songs every day....
ones that make me feel good when things behind the smile ain't ok...." -Hoon0 -

Last time I checked both Ford and GM ranked ahead of Toyota in quality... People like you are just to ignorant to realize that when a company like Toyota has quality issues it's not all over the front page of the newspaper the way it is with an American company. It's like our own media is out to sabotage our own businesses. But go ahead and keep supporting the only country who's military has ever attacked your country.Detroit '98 - Detroit '03 - Toledo '04 - Grand Rapids '04 - Kitchener '05 - London '05 - Grand Rapids '06 - Cleveland '06 - Detroit '06 - Chicago '07 - West Palm Beach - Tampa '08 - Toronto '09 - Indy '10 - Buffalo '10 - Toronto '11 - London '130 -
its been ridiculous for awhile.
blame the Eagles for the first $100 ticket, and Barbara Streisand for taking greediness to a whole other level
actually, Im surprised that the STP tix are not more, like $89.50
the tix companies are pushing the limits to see just how much the public will pay
people keep buying, they will keep charging
as long as people care more about seeing a band than having a dollar in their pocket, it will continue0 -

maybe this is a recent phenomenon. but every person (myself included) that has owned an american car complains about the crap quality.
and spare me the "keep supporting the only country" bullshit. i guess we better throw out VW / BMW / and Mercedes Benz as well.
isn't there a toby keith album you should be listening to right now?0 -

I don't like people who drive German cars either... If people are so concerned about the economy maybe they should support American companies... if you look at the prices of everything and sporting events now i personally don't think 80 dollars for an stp ticket is out of control, plus a lawn seat for that show before fees is 20 something bucks4/28/03, 7/5/03, 7/8/03, 7/14/03, 9/28/04, 9/29/04, 10/1/04, 9/15/05, 9/16/05, 9/30/05, 10/1/05, 10/3/05, 5/4/06, 5/12/06, 5/27/06, 5/28/06, 5/30/06, 6/3/06, 6/23/06, 6/19/08, 6/20/08, 6/24/08, 6/25/08, 6/30/08, 10/27/09, 10/28/09, 10/30/09, 10/31/09, 5/18/100

the beauty of the free market. people buy what they can afford. also.. if american companies weren't turning their backs on americans people would be more prone to support them. outsourcing is killing america.0 -
