I posted this in another thread, but I thought I'd start a new one. It looks as though Iran is going to release the 15 British captives sometime today.

Or maybe that groan was from leftist mouthpiece Rosie O Dumbass...now that Bush and Co. won't be able to use these hostages as a reason to go to war like she predicted.

Oh, lighten up buddy. I can't stand her, either, but you can't put much past that bunch.

Come on no need to call her that. We all know her name is Rosie O Fatass.

Perhaps, but my guess is Bush and PNAC will find other reasons to take us into conflict with Iran. I did think this could have been THE catalyst though...and let me make myself clear...I'm saying I thought it COULD have been the catalyst...not that it SHOULD have been the catalyst for war.

What happens if news comes out that they weren't mistreated? That's not going to make us look too good.

It's like you said in the other thread, this whole thing is nothing but posturing for the world to see. Iran is smart for not torturing them, but that doesn't exactly make them the de facto standard for human rights leaders in the world either.

Let's be honest, the whole thing was done so Iran could try to mock the U.S. and Britian on a world stage, and probably to get some of their own prisoners back from us. I'm sure we gave up something/someone.

Yeah, we did; yesterday there was news of a few of the American captured Iranians in Baghdad being set free.

I would never claim them to be the de facto standard for human rights. I know better. Most people know better. But that doesn't change the fact that Iran did "mock" the U.S. and Britian on the world stage and it worked. Unfortunately we left ourselves wide open for this shit.

Because if they really were in Iraqi waters when they got caught. The powers that be would have had satellite pictures with lines in the water explaining the territories and how the Brits were indeed on the proper side of said lines. But we know that they were in the wrong and got burned playing their little games. You didn't leave yourselves wide open for anything other then don't go where you don't belong and you should be safe.
You've changed your place in this world!

where hope lies is in the action of the british ... with an unpopular war back home - they probably had no choice however, it is clear the US would not have chosen diplomacy ...

whatever backroom deals were signed - the brits chose humility over arrogance and that is a good sign ...

this thread will die.. not enough hate.

Iran was able to handle people.. but they are evil and can not be trusted with chemistry and physics.. or we will bomb them out of existence.

let's be honest, we've not exactly made it hard for them to do so lately.

Wow. Iran made a PR move and let 15 British soldiers go that THEY captured...most likely...illegally in the first place....and now since they pander to the world with an obvious PR move by letting them go...you're ready to trust them with "chemistry and physics" when Iran IS THE ONE spouting off about bombing Israel out of existence in the first place.

I suppose we should grant the Ayatollah the "Hidden Imam Peacemaker of the Year Award" since he didn't shove a hot poker up all of the Brits asses while he made them drink motor oil and endure electro shock therapy...right???...
