Back to the subject..Does everyone agree that it was in fact the Catholics who felt superior to God and changed the true Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday? I thought God's laws couldn't be changed? Why is the 4th commandment the ONLY ONE God said REMEMBER????

Brilliant logic there. The Catholics are horrible for twisting the Bible, meanwhile you adopt the view that you really only have to remember one of the commandments... the least important one. I thought this kind of anti-Catholic redneck rhetoric waned in the 60s when the KKK went out of vogue.

besides, interesting premise....that catholics felt 'superior to god'....hmmmm, really? WHO is to say what day god deemed as the sabbath, and honestly...does it really matter? as long as A day, once a week...is set aside as a day of rest, reflection, prayer...honoring god, isn't that the point? and believe me, i find plenty of 'fault' within the catholic church, however 'blaming' catholics for the sabbath being 'switched' to sundays rather than saturdays is a bit ridiculous, no? don't MOST practicing christians honor the sabbath on sundays nowadays? why would they go along with what catholics deemed? seems a silly arguement. there is plenty to 'blame' on religion of all forms, on christians, on catholics...but this? reaching and needlessly divisive.

I remember hearing the argument that a 'day' to god could be hundreds of years to us. So the earth wasn't created in 7 days, but in thousands of years or something. I think I like that version. I'm having my 'day' of rest the next few hundred years! See ya! :D

Exactly. The Catholic Church gives plenty of ammunition for criticism. This isn't one of them.

No, I don't. This is an institution that has been sheltering and protecting pedophiles for years. If your big complaint is that 2000 years ago they decided to make the day of rest a Sunday for political reasons, a change which almost every branch of Christianity (not just the Catholic Church) has adopted, then I'd say maybe you don't get it. Besides, I'm pretty sure they weren't using a Gregorian calendar when Exodus was written, so how do you truly know the Sabbath was Saturday, a day that hadn't even been "invented" when the 10 commandments were issued?

But perhaps you can explain to us why Saturday vs. Sunday is such a huge deal. I'm obviously missing something. I can see why you'd be upset about any laws that would get in the way of your religious practices, but to hate on the Catholic Church over using a different day is kind of weird. I believe the commandment is to keep holy the Sabbath day... not keep holy Saturday.

    nevermind. I saw it.

I'm not much for doctrine or the Bible, so it still seems pretty silly to me. No more silly than any other Christian tenet though I suppose. Had no idea people took this one so literally and seriously, thanks for the link!

    Uh.......NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is what is wrong with organize religion!!! always fighting about this rule or that thought when the GOLDEN RULE is the most important one.

and I don't think it matters what day you set aside.
So I'll just lie down and wait for the dream

I agree, but it makes sense when you believe that the bible is the word of god, like literally his word, that the 'less important' rules matter as well, whether you are part of an organised religion or not.

But again, it is my personal choice to choose which religion I follow, and how I do it, I don't want or need the gov't making that decision for me.
