Rush Limbaugh was detained for more than three hours Monday at Palm Beach International Airport after authorities said they found a bottle of Viagra in his possession without a prescription.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement examined the 55-year-old radio commentator's luggage after his private plane landed at the airport around 2 p.m. from the Dominican Republic, said Paul Miller, spokesman for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

ICE officials found a prescription bottle labeled as Viagra, a drug that treats erectile dysfunction, in his luggage, Miller said.

"The problem was that on the bottle itself was not his name, but the name of two Florida doctors," Miller said.

Limbaugh reached a deal last month with prosecutors who had accused the conservative talk-show host of illegally deceiving multiple doctors to receive overlapping painkiller prescriptions.

The matter Monday was referred to the sheriff's office, whose investigators interviewed Limbaugh.

"He said he had the Viagra in his possession for his use and that he did obtain it from his doctors," Miller said.

Investigators confiscated the drugs, and Limbaugh was released around 5:30 p.m. without being charged.

The sheriff's office plans to file a report with the state attorney's office.

"We believe there may be a second-degree misdemeanor violation, which is possession of certain drugs without a prescription, because the bottle does not have his name on it," Miller said.

A doctor had prescribed the drug, but it was "labeled as being issued to the physician rather than Mr. Limbaugh for privacy purposes," Roy Black, Limbaugh's attorney, said in a statement.

Under Limbaugh's deal with prosecutors, the charge, commonly referred to as "doctor shopping," would be dismissed after 18 months if he continues to submit to random drug tests and treatment for his acknowledged addiction to painkillers.

I wonder if he claimed to be a Member of Congress, a Kennedy, and tried to employ a jedi mind-trick to get out of his situation. "you don't need to see my prescription. I'm not the pundit you're looking for" That's what I would have done in his place.

ol' limpy limbaugh is a pill poppin' freak...plain and simple, what's that have to do with Kennedy...? both he and kennedy should be held accountable...just because limpy has a blind following it does not mean he above he law...

anyhoo, perhaps he was high on oxy again and did not realize he had them in his bags...

Detaining a big fat radio host and frisking him for limp pecker medication makes about as much sense as preventing trade with Cuba.

Oh yeah I'm not denying the comedy, it's really funny especially given his history he would be stopped with any drug much less one for impotence. I'm more annoyed with customs/"border control" in general.

IE: how is a cigar that happens to be from cuba threatening to the US?

Or if I bring a crate of lipitor home for my dad because it's cheaper why is that a problem?

It's like not being able to buy beer on Sunday.....at the supermarket oh but I can in a restaurant.

He tried to joke it off on his radio show today by saying that he got the pills at the Clinton Presidential Library and that they told him they were blue M&M's. I guess NoBloodRush Limpaugh thinks it is funny as well.
