Russian Government Dissolved!

What does this mean for the US and the rest of the world? This has the ring of the beginning of a dictatorship to me! Putin has authority to basically put who he wants in power. Definitely something to keep an eye on.

    this is bad. putin has always bothered me. I feel sorry for the people who live in that country

    Russia has been going backwards towards dictatorship steadily since Putin took over. Scary stuff. The old KGB man is consolidating power.
    But fear not - GWB looked into his eyes and soul and determined he was a good man. That is enough evidence for me.

    That's what I was thinking. Kinda scary, but I wouldn't put it past Bush to try to pull something like this if it was an option he had. Good thing the US Constitution doesn't provide clauses such as this.

    haha, how do you think Putin himself came to power???

    I'm all up for this, i have a good faith in Putin.....though it would've been nice if he ruled for a little bit more.

    When you say Russian people you mean Chechnyan right??

    as for Russian people who live in other parts of Russia apart from Chechnya they have freedom. and i know ;)

    they do? not from what I have read. will they have freedom to pick a new leader? doesnt sound like it. do they have complete freedom of press and speech? not too sure about that either.

    ok, i think i was thinking with my arse before. you are right we haven't got complete freedom of press and speech.

    as for not being able pick a new leader. it doesn't mean the leader that's going to be chosen for us will be bad for us.

    if you say so. but me? I enjoy being able to freely choose who represents me. im not always happy with the outcome, but I at least I have a say.

    why do you seem ok with what putin is doing? dont you enjoy freedom?

    I don't think he'd move for permanent dissolution, just dissolution of government in its current state. He'd then appoint all his cronies as he's already been doing just on a higher level.

    I actually think Putin has the authority to replace the prime minister under the russian constitution. The presidency in Russia is even more powerful than the US presidency in their own country. They have a pretty authoritarian tradition in that respect. Putin's rule is troubling, but in this one he's playing inside the rules I think.

    Well, I think it's obvious he is playing within the rules. It's not as if there was a total overthrow of government here. It's just troubling that he's elected to dissolve the government right after the information about their new bomb has been released.
