i know the sale sucked ( i got through :)) but i dont remember people being wrongly charged?

    it should be anyway

    Let's make a side bet:

    a) apology before noon PST
    b) apology after 12pm PST
    c) no apology at all

  • I'm not pissed off about the fact I did not get tickets for the first LA show (I'll try again on Friday). I'm not pissed off about the fact that I got a pending charge on my debit card that won't be released for 3-5 days (technology is moody, and sometimes those problems are hard to anticipate ahead of time). I'm not even pissed off about the fact that I got MULTIPLE charges because I clicked "buy" multiple times without procuring tickets (again, technology can be an unpredictable bitch).

What I AM pissed off about is the fact that this problem was communicated directly to the 10C via this message board AND various e-mails, yet they failed to take any action toward warning people about the issue. I know for a fact that the 10C was aware of the problem within an hour of the tickets going on sale, because I called their toll-free number and spoke directly to a 10C staffer, who indicated that he/they were well aware of the problem.

Although I understand why they can't go back and reverse the charges any sooner than 3-5 days, they should have taken measures to ensure that as few people were hit with this problem as possible. That may have included sending a simple e-mail to all 10C members, posting a sticky on this board, and especially removing links to buy tickets that were long-since sold out from their website.

I just can't fathom why any/all of these steps weren't taken. It seems that the lack of action just caused more of a headache for us and them.

Obviously you're not paying attention. Read the email below from this very thread. There's nothing the 10c can do. The authorization holds will be removed within 3-5 bus days. So if the 10c can apologize to someone who inquires about it, is it too much to ask them to make a thread giving everyone a heads up about this (for those that may be unaware) and *gasp* apologize? I mean come on, and I didn't even try for tickets.

So since ther eisnt anything they can do, they must just be sitting around drinking beer?

I'm sure they are still working with their credit card vender, etc..

Also, the amount of people affected by this is extremely small compared to the member base of the fan club. This is where they need to be careful with what they say publicly.

Posting an official statement about how their ticketing system is messed up is great for you guys...you get your apology (which means nothing, imo)...BUT it also tells thousands of other members that there is/was a problem which could prevent them from purchasing ANYTHING through the site.

At work, when one of our applications goes down...we only send out a notification if it affects a large portion of people. There is no need to send 10,000 people into a frenzy over a problem that only affected 75.

Why would 10 club want to potentially scare EVERY member, when only a small amount had a problem? And yes, ALL the people complaining on here are just a drop in the bucket. The 10 club is bigger than this board.

When you put your credit info and hit submit, often it said server error retry and brought you back to step 1 entering in your address.

What we didn't know is that everytime you hit submit your card got charged even though you received that error message and assumed the transaction did not go through.

For most of us, we thought when we got the server error message that our credit card info was never sent and didn't think twice about hitting submit 3, 4, 5, etc. times.

In 05, twice the whole server fail got me. I was so disgusted that I was going to be shut out of a venue I could see from my house that I didn't even bother checking to see if my credit card got charged. So I don't know for sure if they charged me in 05, but these server issues have been plaguing ten club since at least July/August 2005.

i know about the server issues (even though i got lucky with the wach in 05 and the vic in 07) but this wrongly charging thing is new concern... 2005 there was just too much demand for one show...

As I recall Ticketmaster has a system where if the tickets you requested are available those tickets are held for you then you have 2 minutes to complete your transaction. As long as you do that you are guaranteed your tickets. Otherwise the tickets are put back into the pool. Couldn't they implement something like this so you don't get to the point where you actually submit your CC info and then get some cryptic error message? I was one of the lucky ones. I got seats to two shows, but later found out that I had 4 pending charges to my card. That would have sucked if either of the first two bogus charges had put me over my limit and then I couldn't try again.

Also, couldn't this whole situation been avoided had they put only 2 or 3 shows on sale at one time? I'm sure the demand for the 2 LA shows alone probably forced the server to it's knees, let alone the other 5 shows. Just because the venues are smaller doesn't mean there will be a proportionate decrease in demand.

..Yeah, because an apology thread might alert that one 10c member who has somehow managed to not see every other thread on this board re: being charged for no tickets ;)

But seriously, a 10C statement that they are aware of the problem, know why it happened and are determined to fix it before it happens again would do more towards alleviating anxiety rather than fueling it. Not to mention what it would do for general goodwill ...

Look, I've worked in customer service management for over 15 years. I'm certainly not insinuating that the 10c hold a press conference today on CNN about this, however, the people affected (no matter how small that number may be) have not been apologized to. At least sticky a thread with an explanation of what happened and an apology. Communication goes a long way, especially empathy. You'd be surprised how quickly some people calm down simply because the company says "We're sorry" or "We apologize."

If you tried to buy something online at say Best Buy, and when you entered your credit card info and were checking out, the site crashed and you didn't get the item. No biggie, right? Then come to find out you were charged 5 times for that item. Would you not be upset? Would you not expect the company to take accountability for the mistake and simply apologize for any inconvenience?
