Someone on here was quoted as calling drug users "scum"The Exact Quote Was wrote:To me youre just one drop in the drug bucket of scum if you engage
and saying that if the war on drugs convinces even just one kid not to do drugs, then it was worth it.
same with throwing "your" ass in jail (assuming you do drugs) ... if it convinces just one kid to stay off them, it is worth it.
along with the "scum" comment we were also treated to this beauty:Verbatim wrote:Addiction, disease, rape, violence......nothing good comes from drugs. It and its people are filth.
and then, the grande finale comment rejecting the notion that anyone could simply be a recreational drug user ... the comment going on to insinuate that just about all drug users end up wasting away, killing their babies, or exacting untold numbers of misfortunes upon innocent other lives via their indiscriminate actions ...The Magnum Opus wrote:The argument that some people only use drugs recreationally is ignorant beyond belief.
This whole thread is a mock reaction to that.
Sorry for the confusion. If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?0 -
man those quotes get me pissed!
Who the hell are these people?
Why is it ok to call drug users these kinds of names, but not other groups of people that choose to do things that are hazardous to their own health?
Skydivers are scum. People with tattoos are rapists. you have piercings? You're diseased. You drink alcohol or coffee? You're filth. Drive too fast? You are ignorant. Sit in front of a computer for fun? You're an addict.
FUCK!!!
It wouldn't be acceptable to publicly state these things, and the fact that a lot of people might not support those views, but they read them without reacting like they would to the other statements above, shows just how much damage has been caused by D.A.R.E, your brain on drugs, after school specials, et al. It is so stigmatized that normal people lose their compassion and empathy, and this is considered an acceptable way to behave to a large portion of the population.0 -

Eddie did enough drugs that made him a lost soul and wasted his art, a great gift that it is. A gift that he shared with us.
I think he already had the opportunity to ruin his life with drugs like Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley or Shannon Hoon and many others did. I think he chose not to let drugs ruin his life and he uses them responsibly and only recreationally (at least I think so).
I don't think the legality of drugs influenced his choice at all.
Mike McCready was even addicted to drugs twice (right?) and he cleaned up. Again, I don't think it was because drugs were illegal (he was addicted to alcohol, I believe, which is perfectly legal and totally ignored by the person who made these "scum" claims) but because he chose to, he chose to live.
In a way Eddie and Mike are already examples of how drugs can be used recreationally but how they can also lead to addiction and how addiction doesn't necessarily lead to death.
That being said, if you believe you'll get addicted to drugs by smoking a joint every fortnight you need to watch reefer madness again, once you toke it, you're trapped for life!THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!

this thread is beyond pointless imho. I’ll kill you if you get ed locked up by the way. then I’ll break him out. no jokes. stop speculating what random chemical input have on someone like Ed whose making a massive difference "out there".
so fucking what if he wants to get lost sometimes? it's like chopping off someone’s hands for masturbating - it's beyond hypocrisyAthens, Greece: 2006/09/30

hey dude you heard wrong about drug adicts...they are not all scum, they are people like you and me who have had the misfortune of being in that situation.0

I don't really care what he does, but if it effes him up so bad that his performance suffers, I'm going to feel a little cheated. Along the same lines, if you're going to get effed up, don't announce it - that's a tad juvenile.I smile, but who am I kidding...0

Wow, can we all get caught up here........eh?
I don't think that just because you party you are an addict or a person who has no other things going on in thieir life that are important to them or that drugs consume them.........c'mon you'd have to be so closed minded to think that.
I have spent a lot of my life altered and it was mixed. sometimes it was because of me partying sometimes it was because I wanted to have a party to escape other things. Just like having a drink doesn't make you an alcoholic, partying doesn't make you a drug addict and my comment about Eddie didn't insinuate that I thought that at all. I just meant that we all admire his work and if he would reach a sad place in his life that made him bottom out, that would be a loss, that's all. I think we would agree with that.
I have tatoos, and I have a lot of ideas that are both conservsative and others are radical. These thoughts have come from living my life and then deciding how I feel in regard to certain things. But these truths are mine; not anyone else's, nor do I try to make them someone else's.
You know, I just wrote a piece that came into a local Chicago newspaper on another hot subject that I won't get into here....it's loaded enough on these pages presently. But the bottom line was that true ignorance on any subject comes from people not thinking throroughly about what they are saying they believe. It also comes from people joining with groups of liberals or conservatives and then copping their opinion not forming their own. In order to truly make a statement based on your beliefs, you need to form your own after you think. THINKING is the bottom line...most people find it too much trouble. Those are the people who reference others as "scum": without even knowing them..........Baby, You Wouldn't Last a Minute on The Creek......

DriftingByTheStorm wrote:Well?
I've heard that all drug users are scum, and a waste.
That they are a burden to society, and that they should be thrown in jail as an example.
A rock-mega-star such as Eddie would make a GREAT EXAMPLE.
I mean, that should keep, what, like 10 million kids off drugs?
And,
i've also heard that "no good" can come of recreational drug use ... and yet eddie mentions during Rock Werchter in Belgium that he was wasted because of a "pill" that Josh had given him earlier.
So Eddie was fucked up when he performed this: Slow Night, So Long ...
Seems that some people in pretty "high" places think that recreational drug use can serve certain artistic merits.
But i just want to know,
because Eddie has incriminated himself on numerous occasions admitting to drug use in the past. He insinuates it presently as well.
IS EDDIE SCUM?
SHOULD WE JAIL HIM TO SET AN EXAMPLE?
No he's not scum and no he should not be jailed. I use some things for creative purposes. When I drink wine and get drunk I can write a great song or poem. Same thing with pot, acid.I'll be back0
