We all have this desire to look up..........
We look up,
we dream up,
we pray up,
we cry up.........
we want a god...
we want to grow up and do what the hell we want to....
no more will anyone tell us what to do......no way.......
but when we look at anyone we admire and expect them to be perfect,
we are so fucked up.
who cares if Eddie does drugs; he never asked to be a role model, just a musician...
he shouldn't be jailed .......
I am my own kids' parent; no celebrities are responsible for their outcome...
it's me and God. period.
"hero worship's such a fucked up thing
people twist the messages you're sending
'hey all I ever wanted was to sing'"Baby, You Wouldn't Last a Minute on The Creek......
Together we will float like angels.........

seriously. i know TONS of successful people around my age (I'm 31) who smoke either occasionally or frequently. most of the people i work with incl some mgmt smoke. the fact is they don't go after yuppies or rock stars. they go after the lower classes because they can put them in prison, make them into slaves and no one cares.0 -

i am a golden god!
i'm on drugs!
Abortion I try to stay away from. Too emotional.
Religion - I don't feel my opinions would/should mean much to anyone.
The free-will debates? I saw god at the start of one of those threads...she told me that I better twist one, or by the time I was six/seven posts in, I'd wish my folks had aborted me0 -
DriftingByTheStorm wrote:Well?
I've heard that all drug users are scum, and a waste.
That they are a burden to society, and that they should be thrown in jail as an example.
A rock-mega-star such as Eddie would make a GREAT EXAMPLE.
I mean, that should keep, what, like 10 million kids off drugs?
And,
i've also heard that "no good" can come of recreational drug use ... and yet eddie mentions during Rock Werchter in Belgium that he was wasted because of a "pill" that Josh had given him earlier.
So Eddie was fucked up when he performed this: Slow Night, So Long ...
Seems that some people in pretty "high" places think that recreational drug use can serve certain artistic merits.
But i just want to know,
because Eddie has incriminated himself on numerous occasions admitting to drug use in the past. He insinuates it presently as well.
IS EDDIE SCUM?
SHOULD WE JAIL HIM TO SET AN EXAMPLE?
i do think however that drug-addicts like layne staley needed serious help. i consider them junkies.... and i think those people who actually waste their life away in drugs are the one's who lead others to believe that "nothing good comes from drugs." i guess, it just depends on experiences you had. like an abusive alcoholic dad.... i'm sure the kids think their dad is a "junk" too. not necessarily though. This isn't the land of opportunity, it's the land of competition.0 -

Honestly, sometimes I think I'm the only person who DOESN'T smokeWell I'd smoke a couple of times a year at the MOST but that's about it. All my friends smoke, most of THEIR friends smoke... it's ridiculous, lol.

I think it's best to just stay clean. There are plenty of other things to do, plenty of other things to feel. This world can be a pretty shitty place and a lot of us really do need drugs to get by. But once you get through that and can live life without drugs it's even a much better place. Kind of a circular reference there....hope I made sense. The Astoria??? Orgazmic!

Hey, thanks for turning me onto some (new-- for me anyway) music......
I loved this clip and also watched the clip of the same song done in Hawaii.
As in my profile, I'm not too young and have seen a lot of wasted people in my time and Eddie doesn't appear to be beyond comprehension or ability to perform.
I don't get it; who is this guy who started this thread????
A fed??Baby, You Wouldn't Last a Minute on The Creek......

There's a person who posts here who believes drug users are by default drug abusers and losers and scum. I think the thread starter wanted to show that's a rather ignorant view of drug users.
I could be wrong, however.
And Kings of Leon are great!THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!

thanks for clearing that up..............
well, let's open up this a bit............
i was a hippy, in the 80's when they called us "freaks".......(there were jocks, freaks, greasers........jocks got drunk and dated cheerleaders, later on got fat and bald and greasers wore weird clothes called freaks "drug addicts" and later on sold coke...so much for their anti drug stance and most of the freaks, grew up, got real lifes and outgrew drugs)
I think that is the real thing about drugs. Do they interfere with your life? Some people think that drug use should be legal, feeling that the hardcore drug users could just od and be done with it. That said, I would feel sad if
Eddie did enough drugs that made him a lost soul and wasted his art, a great gift that it is. A gift that he shared with us.
But is it a crime? No, not a legal crime but a crime that would be one if it messed up your life, marriage or kids' lives. That said, we should mind our own business, worry more about the weird, pedifile type druggies, who for some sick reason, target kids to get them into drugs (but I gotta wonder...do people really give out drugs for free????) and worry less about the stars that we like, and enjoy their work. period...........Baby, You Wouldn't Last a Minute on The Creek......

Jail the scum for calling other people scum...they're the problem...Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

of course he's not scum...but obviouly he is maladaptive, and trying to mask his insecurities....and not living up to his full human potential...besides the fact he most definitely is part of the 98% who is not 'self-actualized' otherwise he would not abuse himself in such a mannner.
i'll admit, at most....poor form to discuss illegal drug use.....but yea...i think the man, like so many others.....is capable of making such choices for himself...and we all could aspire to live up to our potential to such a degree.Stay with me...

good point. clearly eddie is a weak-minded individual who cannot face his past malfunctions like the buddha did. he has a lot to learn before he can be a healthy human being. until then, he's just corrupting society and bringing it down with his bad example and influence.0 -

ok so I feel like that old Gilda Radner character that use to come on and get all fired up about something she got wrong and then said, "never mind"
but I think I missed something here............
was that original quote about jailing drug users something that Eddie Vedder himself said? I think I missed the original thought here.Baby, You Wouldn't Last a Minute on The Creek......

he's no better than anyone else. If he gets caught and prosecuted and convicted then he should serve the time (whatever that may be). But we shouldn't arrest him to set an example.make sure the fortune that you seek...is the fortune that you need0
