  • 51 times is a bit excessive isnt it?
  • oh! and dont these guys take a shooting test? They were aiming for a car but ended up hitting houses and other things in the process? I understand about acting in the heat of the moment, but if your training does not allow you to make level headed decisions, which include where to aim, then you shouldnt be out there.

Cops have a notoriously inept record when discharging their firearms under stress. In fact, they are lucky when they hit anywhere near where they aim. There have been a number of studies done, and it is abysmal.

As for the "veteran" officer who unloaded 31 shots, he should be brought up on reckless endangerment charges, since I'm guessing most of his 31 shots were strays.

Why isn't their training sufficeint enough to help them handle situations that expose them to a very high level of stress? I mean, if you're issued a firearm for your job, training like that should be the norm.

b/c in training you know in the back of your mind that it's not real, no matter how realistic you make it. They are trained, but until you get in a real situation you have no idea how good the training is.

Not a lot of information to go on, so we don't know exactly what happened here, but there are two things I DO know:

    1. 51 shots, spraying an entire neighborhood, is seriously excessive.

    2. No good will come of Al Sharpton's involvement.

    I’d thank my lucky stars,
    to be livin here today.
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can’t take that away.

And I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

Yea, you're right. It's only the location for the most popular american symbol...the statue of liberty. By the way, why are we in a war on terror if the WTC wasn't an attack on american soil? You, Dino, are not american. You, my friend, are not one for democracy. You do not accept others if they think differently than you. America is a melting pot. You want an America that thinks just like you. That is unamerican.

i can't imagine being a law enforcement officer in new york city, or any city for that matter. they are trained to handle situations like this, but as stated the reaction to real danger cannot be predicted.

51 shots spraying neighbooring homes is quite excessive, but i think more information needs to be made available before any conclusions can be drawn.

al sharpton is a decietful egomaniac and should just be quiet....forever.
    Nice shirt.
  • excessive force???

wouldn't that depend on how good a shot you were?

Yes. Which goes back to my point, that if 1 cop needed to pop off 31 shots, then he's a threat to others. He should be relieved of his gun and assigned to mall security.
