I got this in my inbox the other day. This is brutal and absolutely horrific. I don't care what excuse they have - preserving the oceans balance or whatever. Screw 'em very much.

Don't watch this if you have a sensitive soul or stomach. Seriously: don't watch.

Here's a petition you can sign, but I don't know if it has any use or effect.

That was horrible. I feel sick to my stomach after watching that. I can understand that dolphins are fished for but do they have to slit their throats and leave them their to suffer like that.

yeah, the treatment of whales and dolphins by the japanese is appauling. It's almost as bad as the canadians and their bashing to death of baby seals by the hundreds of thousands while the mothers look on.

It is atrocious. I watched the video as well and felt sick to my stomach.

Although I'm not gung ho about the seal hunt I do think its a bit of a different animal. I'd actually be okay with it if not for the method of killing. The cognitive and social abilities and structure of the seal is much different than that of the dolphin. Furthermore, there is a huge overpopulation of seals due to the removal of top predators.

the japs are fucking atrocious........we see images of them on aussie tv all the time.

other governments should step in and tell em to stop or we'll kick their ass.

and when they do it in OUR water (australian waters), we should be able to blast them outta the water.

Every square inch of the Japanese island is inhabited by humans. What are they supposed to eat?

Bullshit. And if you'd ever looked at a map you'd know that Japan consists of more than one island.
It doesn't matter if you're male, female, or confused; black, white, brown, red, green, yellow; gay, lesbian; redneck cop, stoned; ugly; military style, doggy style; fat, rich or poor; vegetarian or cannibal; bum, hippie, virgin; famous or drunk-you're either an asshole or you're not!

Did you watch the video? This doesn't compare to the way cattle or sheep are slaughtered, at least in Australia.

Not true. There is actually quite a bit of agriculture and productive land. They can also import lots of food from surrounding areas. Whale/dolphin meat is a delicacy there and not a staple.

Exactly. If dolphin tasted like prime rib, there would be no issue.

I could care less if they wanna eat dolphin, but I have to say there has to be a more humane way to kill them. I don't buy the "they are smarter and more socially aware" bullshit. Its an animal. Humans eat animals. ALways have, always will. Whats a bullet cost? The japanese can make anything on the cheap, I gotta think a bullet costs a few cents. Even our cows die quickly and painlessly compared to that.

Noone I know ever accused the Japanese culture of being caring, nor humane. That video proves that to me.
    Why go home

  • Although the lives of foodstocks might be worse, they are slaughtered more humanely than those dolphins.

Secondly, dolphins are one of the most intelligent and social animals on earth whereas sheep and cows are not (granted pigs are quite intelligent but not on the same scale as dolphins).

How is it that people can condone middle easterner's mid-evil customs as "part of their culture", but the Japanese killing Dolphins is a no no?

I think there are lines drawn as to what we eat. Humans are animals too. I think its a mistake to assume otherwise. We do not have to eat certain things and we have choice. I will not eat or sanction the killing of animals that are capable of more advanced cognitive abilities nor those that have highly developed social structures. There is a much different moral dilemma when those factors are taken into consideration.

Which customs are you referring to? I don't condone anything that is cruel.
