After all, though I happen to attend the New Orleans chapter, I think we might be members of the same club.
I was just throwing that out there because I originally thought the same thing.0 -

if rush limbaugh called obama a "magic negro" it would be news.
but some no name leftist calls him that, and nobody seems to have a comment.
at least we are in agreement, it was a racist article.
nobody has a comment becos he's a no-name and nobody even heard him say it. until rush decided to turn it into reason number 36924 that liberals should all be drawn and quartered. :rolleyes:0 -

just talking about the use of 'magic negros' and calling someone a magic negro isn't racist, but using magic negros in pop culture is racist. magic negros are pretty-well known characters to pop culture critics and sociologists.
i don't know that i'd call the article racist because it explores the magic negro characterization (although parts about him not being black enough are worrisome); however i disagree with the writer that obama is a magic negro. he does have a past (not one full of crime from which he is reforming), and it's pretty damn easy to read about. and i don't think he is sacrificing himself for the sake of the white man. and he doesn't play the role of the old, wise one either.
anyway, will smith in that shit move (bagger vance?) is a good magic negro example. and it's interesting to see the different ways the left and the right portray obama.if you wanna be a friend of mine

I want to be a magic negro, too!
How can I do this?Do you remember Rock & Roll Radio?0 -
You called it purple. good job.0

Heh. The problem isn't that the liberal used the term "magic negro", the problem is that he thought you uneducated masses would understand the reference. In the shadow of the light from a black sun

so you're saying rush is mischaracterizing the actual point of the article in order to go after obama and liberals in general? i'm shocked. shocked, i say.VictoryGin wrote:anyway, will smith in that shit move (bagger vance?) is a good magic negro example.

oh, i know. it's certainly pretty shocking to see that happen . . . everywhere.Milhouse VanHouten wrote:
that's great i haven't read that. i was going to say the green mile, but i couldn't bring myself to watch that movie after holding back vomit during the previews. and hitch! i was thinking about that one too. looks like tom hanks and will smith like the magical negros (or black men).
what do you think about the chris rock one though? i wonder if the point of a 13th black apostle in a kevin smith dogma movie overrides that, you know?if you wanna be a friend of mine

yeah, that's the one i questioned a little. one of the characteristics of the magic negro is that he's always one dimensional, defined only by his magic negro wisdom. in contrast, the 13th apostle character chris rock played actually had a fair amount of backstory, which gave the character a little more depth, relatively speaking."Of course it hurts. the problem is that you educated people hide behind PC bullshit, and us "uneducated masses" are calling you out.

the article is racist. libs are obsessed with racism while the rest of fly over country continues to look past it. the left is obsessed with race....look at the harold ford ad...newsflash for you people, middle america is not racist. it is the left that pushes this bullshit upon us, and quite frankly, good luck winning elections playing that card. And you ask me what I want this year

how is being "obsessed with racism" the same as actually being racist?
what harold ford ad are you talking about? the one that his opposition ran against him? how does that ad prove that "the left" is racist?"Of course it hurts. You're getting fucked by an elephant."0 -

at least you got the point i intended...
a couple months ago he played a joke on the media with his comment on rex grossman, and 4 days later, you saw posts here (that's why i 'arbitrarily' chose thursday) mischaracterizing him.
the left are masters of mischaracterization, so consider this thread as a pre-emptive strikeAnd you ask me what I want this year

being obsessed with race IS by definition racism. bringing race into the ford ad is racist b/c the ad had nothing to do with race.
your ilk whines and moans about mccarthyism, but pc IS modern day mccarthyism. the pins and needles the right has to walk upon is disgusting, especially given that we all know it's not about racism, sexism, or anything else, it's all about socialism. that trumps everything. And you ask me what I want this year

no offense, but political scientists don't really have much respect for socioligistsand normal people really could care less what pop culture critics have to say..serioulsy...pop culture critics? you have to know somebody to have that titie and make a living.

Limbaugh is a magic negro when he is high on oxycotin. He runs around with his Viagra driven pecker, screaming leftist rascist hatewords that he cannot even hear himself.War is Peace

i don't buy that at all. exactly how is being obsessed with racism the same as actually being actively racist? the arguement could be made that some in the bush administration are "obsessed" with terror. by your logic, dick cheney must actively endorse terrorism.
political correctness is "modern day mccarthyism"? are you high? and you said that the left had cornered the market on mischaracterization. you really think that there's a valid comparison between mccarthy/the blacklist/huac and political correctness?
i have no idea where you're getting the socialism thing."Of course it hurts. You're getting fucked by an elephant."0 -

it's not that i'm shielding my ideas...i'm using his tactics to highlight my point of view. the hypocrisy of the media, and more than anything, the lazyness of people to pursue the truth.
I called coulter out last week for her stupid joke...i think it's embarrassing that left wing people aren't calling this idiot from the LA tims out for his racist comments. it's even more embarrassing that rush will eventually be assigned the blame for those comments...
i appreciate you calling me smarti am
and yes, i see through this PC crap, and the way that PC has become modern day mccarthyism. the fact that this will be twisted around and attributed to rush will illustrate it.
