Could it be that he was hoping for a similar agreement that N.Korea did. Think about it. You are not doing, let's say, project A but the big boys don't believe that and put pressure on you to stop doing project A and there is a fine example of what you can get from bigboys (N.Korea) if you made them believe that you are stopping project A. Jackpot, a lot of fund for Ahmedinejad from the bigboys when he most needs it (Iranian economy is not going very well these days). you can strike a deal getting permission to develop a peaceful nuclear program under the strict observation of IAEA so you get two birds with one stone.
And also Ahmedinejad was aware that american people won't support Bush even if he wanted to invade his wife's vagina so I think he took the risk.
but this report just came out on the wrong time.
It always seemed pretty apparent to me that the whole nuclear weapon theory was just a convenient excuse. Our intentions from the minute those planes hit the WTC and the Pentagon was to increase our sphere of influence in the Middle East. First by establishing a permanent military presense in the region and second by reassuring that the US dollar would continue to remain the petro currency. With China gobbling up oil contract in Iraq and Iran and Iraq and Iran threatening to start accepting the Euro as a means to purchase petro we where faced with the prospect of loosing our hegemonic grip of the world. Bush managed to succeed in dooping us into following his crusade into Iraq and the rhetoric about Iran was eerily similar. The problem with Iran was not this supposed nuclear weapon they where developing. The problem with Iran was that they where favoring China and Russia over us. They basically gave us the big fuck off and turned to our competitors and the US government isn't too receptive to that."When one gets in bed with government, one must expect the diseases it spreads." - Ron Paul0 -
