wow. talk about opposite ends of the spectrum.
the long term benefits possible from building new schools as opposed to the long term damage done by this war.
Way to go George!!!

That's assuming that more schools would be built.
In reality I think that it would go more like:
1,000 new F-22 bomber could be built with the money spent in Iraq0 -
everyone in america could have their own K car0

When it comes down to it, Bush knows he screwed up, now he has followed the democrate advice (during the elections last month) and is adding more money and troops the war efforts. Now it’s interesting to watch the “top” democrats bash the administration for sending and adding to the efforts…god politics suck
ill agree. ive opposed the war in iraq, but sadly, i dont see any way out at this point. we have to have more troops there if we hope to accomplish anything.
however, id rather see that money going to giving teachers raises and hiring more of them and giving them better books. we don't need new school buildings. we need to make sure the ones we have can operate.0 -
The money could also be returned to the taxpayers, who could then spend/save as best suits their families specific needs.0

i'd be all for that as long as the parents had to get involved too.make sure the fortune that you seek...is the fortune that you need0 -

Hehe...a bunch of people arguing about the best way to spend someone else's money. You guys might not be as different than George Bush as you think.0

They are tax payers and they are arguing about how they'd like to see their tax money spent. Wouldn't it be great if all the tax payers came together and agrued about what they wanted to do with that money and came up with a few common goals?THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!

So all the people here have paid $350,000,000,000 in taxes? Wow.Wouldn't it be great if all the tax payers came together and agrued about what they wanted to do with that money and came up with a few common goals?
It would be great! It would make taxation largely unnecessary.
However, since all the tax payers have very disparate goals, we enter a situation wherein a few get to steal from the rest to accomplish their chosen goals. I'm sorry that you lost out to a warmonger, but your system kind of asks for it.0 -

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying
Are they no better than Bush, because Bush is actually spending those dollars, they are on a pearl jam message pit debating it.It would be great! It would make taxation largely unnecessary.

I didn't loose out to a warmonger and my system doesn't ask for any of that.THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!

Now that is a fair point.I didn't loose out to a warmonger
Oh, my mistake then. You're cool with George Bush spending your money in Iraq then?my system doesn't ask for any of that.
What system is that?0 -

I'm not American. And you are the one who mention my system, so why don't you tell me?but your system kind of asks for it.THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!

I didn't realize you aren't an American. Where do you live where the government does not forcibly collect ransom from its citizenry and use that money based on the whims of a majority?0 -

It's a magical land...
No, my government does exactly that. I am not particularly fond of our current government but I guess I wouldn't be fond of many governments. We pay very high taxes but I am glad that we have social welfare.
But how exactly is this my system, that's what I don't get?THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!

off the wall statistic? the point being there are a number of things we could have done with this money. Further to that, when money is needed for education, or healthcare, or whatever, its never available. but when its for a war, somehow we always find endless amounts of money. its called priorites buddy.
and i must have missed the part where the "democrates" advised more troops and money.those undecided, needn't have faith to be free0 -

Wouldn't it be great if people spent their own money on issues they thought important?
I'd prefer we didn't have enough federal tax revenue to pay for Iraq or 35,000 schools."I'll use the magic word - let's just shut the fuck up, please." EV, 04/13/080
