Here are some of Ann's great points that she has made.

It would be a much better country if women did not vote. That is simply a fact. In fact, in every presidential election since 1950 - except Goldwater in '64 - the Republican would have won, if only the men had voted."

"God gave us the earth. We have dominion over the plants, the animals, the trees. God said, 'Earth is yours. Take it. Rape it. It's yours.'"
"These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them, reveling in their status as celebrities and stalked by grief-arazzis. These self-obsessed women seemed genuinely unaware that 9/11 was an attack on our nation and acted as if the terrorist attacks happened only to them. ... I've never seen people enjoying their husbands' deaths so much ... the Democrat ratpack gals endorsed John Kerry for president ... cutting campaign commercials... how do we know their husbands weren't planning to divorce these harpies? Now that their shelf life is dwindling, they'd better hurry up and appear in Playboy."

It could be plagiarism, or it could be sloppy citations. Either way, my Shaudenfraude meter started going off when I heard about it.

And whether you wanna admit to it or not, talking about it and giving people like her the attention they're after just fuels their fire. Ironic how so many people who detest this woman, and abhor anything from her mouth, can quote her verbatim. Why go home

It's called the internet. Go to Google type in Ann Coulter quotes and presto you have several listing where you can easily cut and past some of her enlightening words."When one gets in bed with government, one must expect the diseases it spreads." - Ron Paul0 -

Anyhow, I love that someone asked a question of the band relating to fans that have different beliefs. And mostly I was disappointed in Eddie's answer. I think he mentioned an important point at the very end, however it seemed he was more interesting in pleasing the audience, which is what he gets paid to do so well in concerts.
He mentioned that he respects other people's opinions and that he hopes they create discussion, but I wonder ow honest that answer was. It appeared to me that he is more interested in 'preaching to the choir'. And in all honesty I htink that sucks. I think that attitude is the exact attitude he professes to hate so much. He professes to hate the controlled news which leads to the controlled thought and the controlled beliefs on the people...but it seems that perhaps he is for it, just not the current message. He is certainly a well-informed rockstar, and has deep opinions. I would think that he'd welcome with open arms fans that disagree with the band on any number of issues. That they'd welcome the discussions and debate that come along with that. That they'd actually prefer to have fans that represent a large cross-section of the world and political beliefs because that is the only way to make real change...not preaching to the choir. Without out it, Eddie is no more than Jerry Falwell.
So, what do you all think? Perhaps in that format it is too difficult to express all your thoughts, so little time. Perhaps I misevaluated the statement. But all in all, I was certainly disappoited.
I like the debate. I like talking about issues with people that feel passionately about their positions, despite being oposite on mine. Sure, we have some heated exchanges, but those are a necessary evil to get past.
why is it eddie's job to entertain and discuss ALL viewpoints? i believe him when he says he respects your right to disagree, but he doesn't have to cater to you. if he wants to please us fellow liberals, that's his perogative. he's not a kiss-ass politician running for office. he's an artist with strong opinions.Life is the riddle

True...I'm not asking him to cater to me at all. Like I said, just wondering what others got out of it. He is only a rockstar after all, you're right. Thanks.hippiemom = goodness0 -

Thanks, Ive never seen this "google" you speak of. If you could, pm me with instructions on how to use it. It sounds tremedously useful. Rather than do research, or use personaly experience, I can just cut and paste. Cool!!!!Why go home

Wow, I missed out on the debate last night. 'Disposable kitchenware' made me laugh.
So, my two cents is too little too late, but one thing for all those in agreement with Eddie to consider is this: if Eddie made a reference to some categorization of persons that you happened to include yourself in, and he said 'Fuck 'em'', you might understand a little better why those of us with moderate or mid right views reacted. We all already know we are in the minority, and of course we don't think of ourselves as evil, stupid, blinded, etc, but to identify with Pearl Jam and have them say 'Fuck 'em' in retro just gave liscense for others to say the same thing. Sort of like now that Eddie says it is okay....
How can you say F them to anyone who disagrees with your politics anyway. Imagine a world that lived by that rule? How is it possible to communicate after that?
And, I did check out Mike again, and he had fire in his eyes. I don't think he was comfortable at all with that comment. Face it, Mike is coming out of his shell and you can tell by the nearly everything he says and does.
Mike is positive and a thankful person I think. He has overcome real addictions, and having come out of that, I think has made him a more thoughtful and a listener. No way do I think he liked that moment - compare it to his response to Ed's Alive speech, which was quite meaningful and Mike relates to that. Read the lyrics to Inside Job. Point is, I think Mike could have hit Ed with his guitar at that moment, when he said 'Fuck 'em'. He knows how Ed is, but he also realizes that at that moment it isn't just me and the boys, this is the population watching and what we say can easily get misconstrued.HOB 10.05.2005, E Rutherford 06.03.2006, The Gorge 07.22.2006, Lolla 08.05.2007, West Palm 06.11.2008, Tampa 06.12.2008, Columbia 06.16.2008, EV Memphis 06.20.2009, New Orleans 05.01.2010, Kansas City 05.03.20100 -

Thoughtful. Well spoken. Truthful. And exactly what I thought and have tried to say. I tend to get side tracked. And I agree, mike looked like he was nearly ready to shit a brick when Ed made his "joke". I dont really even think Ed backpedalled for the fans sakes, with his real joke about being "open to others views". I think he just backpedalled for Mike.

Yeah, I thought about that too..Ed sort of had that sideways look to Mike when he started to retract. Maybe he was feeling Mike's eyes peircing his soul and he was like "oops, probably shouldn't have said that". In the name of band unity, I am sure they have been through this before and they know "the look"Like an effin marriage!
Another thread in another forum was talking about Ed's speech in Denver where he pointed at himself in regards to 'some people are harder to put up with'. Not saying these events are related, but that was the first show since ST aired, I think.
