this guy seems to be the front runner for the nomination. what do people feel about him? his business experience seems to be relevant right now and he should be able to ride that for super tuesday...

his pros/cons?

    Cons- Morman and had a very liberal record as the gov in Mass. Many on the Republican side view him as a flip flopper on major issues like right to life, gay rights, and taxes.

    Pros- He's better that W

    I think he has done the best consistantly in the primaries, but I think the front runner is McCain now.

    job growth in MA lagged behind the national average when he was govna. i know that much.

    he's prettier than the other candidates

    IMO it doesn't matter what religion someone is but..

    Pros- Doesn't seem to be a Washington insider but I am sure that will quickly change

    Cons- Policy with Iraq and Middle East will not change.
    Seeing visions of falling up somehow.

    I have to laugh at this. My hubby and I were talking about politics last night and I was "its pretty sad when we have no real front runner in either party and the only thing positive we can say for certain is, that no matter who gets elected, I can't imagine things getting any worse". :D

    the cons you mentioned arent too bad. at first I didnt like that he was a morman but he has made it clear to keep that out of his politics. I hope.

    mccain? yea he is doing well but he is just too old and closely aligned with bush.....I dont think that will fly in the long run.

    I agree with you 100%. It SHOULDN'T matter, but when the Republican base are Christians who do care, it matters a lot.

    I think those cons are a big deal because each one of them pisses off a different portion of the Republican base. That makes it tough to win a general election, even if it is against Hillary where Republicans will come out of the woodwork to vote against her.

    2/3s of republicans are happy with Bush. its not a bad stategy to win the nomination. I still think McCain is just pandering to get votes. I bet he hates Bush and if he got a elected i could see him flipping on a few issues, maybe for the better. but thats just a weird feeling i get about him.

    I don't think McCain would need to think twice about the possibility of shoving it in W's ass after the 2000 SC primary.

    i think it does matter if it influences his decisions. It probably doesnt influence his. I'm not a big fan of Mormonism, but I dont want to turn this into another religious bashing thread.

    Call me crazy, but I think we're having a civilized discussion on The Moving Train w/o people pushing their own candidate down our throats and actually talking about strengths and weaknesses.
