Next time just state the obvious so there's no room to dodge the point. If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

Health care we have. The best money can buy. That's why people come here from around the world rather sit in some national health sevice queue hoping they get an operation before they die. Or to be told by their national health service that they don't qualify for a procedure.
That is a completely separate issue from Moore's issue, which is access to health care. But to say we don't have health care is to ignore reality.
Amazing! I am so impressed. You remembered all the talking points in this one. Great job, usually republicans only recall the ones from the past two to three days. That one was at least eight days ago, so we may have to call Guinness and rewrite one with your name.0 -
Rockin'InCanada wrote:Actually as a whole your system ranks behind Canada's (which is WAY down the list)...your system is great for people with money and since we live in a society where we have class divisions (lower/middle/upper) there is a large % of those who cannot even afford healthcare and it has nothing to do with being lazy and that crap it has to do with the fact that not everyone is going to get great jobs that have great benefits because there is simply not enough of those jobs to cover everyone...therefore you have a flawed system with no net for those that require a more "public" system...ain't saying my system is great saying yours is just as far from perfect.....
A piece of advice. You should only introduce one to two facts at a time when speaking or responding to republicans. They have a lot of trouble recognizing anything that isn't warm and fuzzy.0 -
jeffbr wrote:The country as a whole has a health care system. Not perfect, but it exists. Or didn't you know that.
ah, so you were under the assumption that roland that there was no health care system at all in the US? ok, that's where we went wrong, see, i had that pretty much bottom of my list on 'what did roland mean by that comment'
yes, it may shock you but i certainly DO know there exists a health care system in the us! they got the word out pretty good, like those new $20's and $10's....standin above the crowd

Myth One: The United States has the best health care system in the world.
Fact One: The United States ranks 23rd in infant mortality, down from 12th in 1960 and 21st in 1990
Fact Two: The United States ranks 20th in life expectancy for women down from 1st in 1945 and 13th in 1960
Fact Three: The United States ranks 21st in life expectancy for men down from 1st in 1945 and 17th in 1960.
Fact Four: The United States ranks between 50th and 100th in immunizations depending on the immunization. Overall US is 67th, right behind Botswana
Fact Five: Outcome studies on a variety of diseases, such as coronary artery disease, and renal failure show the United States to rank below Canada and a wide variety of industrialized nations.
Conclusion: The United States ranks poorly relative to other industrialized nations in health care despite having the best trained health care providers and the best medical infrastructure of any industrialized nation.

Someone really ought to make a statue of John Wayne and Charlton Heston making love to each other.
Now that would be an art piece.
hehee.

we have great health care if you can afford it i remember when health insurance meant maybe a $20 fee at the dr's and not too much for Rx's...now you pay so much and have to meet thousands of dollars in deductables before they start really paying...they sell it as 'you take care of the little things like routine doctors visits and we take care of the big things, god forbid' but in reality...what does the avg person (under retirement age) use their insurance for???? it's a fucking scam b/c the pharma/health carefor profit/hmo system is so wealthy and powerful and uses it's lobbyists to, let's be honest here, bribe our 'representatives' in government to look the other way while they screw us while giving them breaks and making it easier to get away w/ their shitty treatment! they can even deny procedures if they feel it's too expensive!
some guy posted here years ago about his dad being sick and needing a transplant (i believe) and the hmo thought it cost too much and might not work so they refused to pay for it...and thanks to our government they are allowed to do this....places like kaiser's using pdr's that are a few years old...cutting costs to make a profit, b/c we all know in our capitalist society last years profits will not be enough this year...

Nice try. You've narrowly defined healthcare to be a government run social program. That isn't healthcare. That is one way of administering healthcare. As soon as you learn the languange, and can use words as they're intended you'll be able to have reasoned dialog. Until then I expect nothing but non squiturs and potty jokes from you."I'll use the magic word - let's just shut the fuck up, please." EV, 04/13/080 -

What good is the "best health care in the world" when 90% of the population can't get it?

You must be new here. Read a bit before you post and make yourself look foolish. I'm not a republican. Anyone who isn't socialist around here gets accused of that. I'm a Libertarian. Have been for a couple of decades (your mommy was probably still tucking you in at night when I started voting Libertarian). Nice try, son. Just remember, not everyone who opposes socialization of services is Republican."I'll use the magic word - let's just shut the fuck up, please." EV, 04/13/080 -
