In case you do not know who he is, he is all over the news for shooting two young black guys who broke into his neighbors home and when they went to flee he told them to stop. He said they turned to come after him and he shot them both. They died on his property.
I am sure there are many people here who say that what he did was wrong but that is a load of crap. Its sad that they died but that kind of bullshit cannot be allowed. If they were breaking into my house I would expect my neighbor to do the same.
he was on the phone with the dispatcher for over 8 minutes. The cops took way too long.

    I read about this story. I am not sure how they turned to come after him, when he left the safety of his home to shoot them. Plus the fact that he shot both of them as they were leaving makes me think he was more interested in shooting someone then stopping a crime. I mean you would think after he shot one the other would surrender. Plus if they had already broken in and were leaving, how is shooting them stopping any crime?

    B/c he stood up to the people in this world who think they can go through life doing what ever they feel like without any consequences. Its getting out of hand and I feel that sometimes you need to go to the extreme to make a difference.

    make a difference eh? last i checked... yup... people are still committing crimes. i believe there was another one in chicago yesterday. damn, we were so close!

    yeah, he was on the phone with a 911 operator who told him police were on their way and he should stay in his house. he said he'd kill them before letting them get away. they started to leave, he went out and killed them with a shotgun.

    the one article mentions that the law allows for lethal force for "criminal mischief at night." it's open season in texas boys. get your coon skins before they start runnin!

    Thanks. Sounds to me like he was planning on shooting them regardless. That stuff in the OP about them coming after him is bullshit. He told the dispathcher he was going to kill them! Hardly heroic IMO. More like Texas style vigilante justice and an unecessary killing of two burglars, probably (i can't be certain but i have a feeling in my gut) motivated by the fact that they happened to be Black.

    Damn... I wonder if loitering is considered "criminal mischief". If that's the case, then just about every teenager hanging out at night could be shot.

    No no. That is not how I feel at all.
    Two years ago a guy broke into my house. He was hiding in my daughters bedroom. She was not born yet but he was in there while my wife came home from work and then took a pregnancy test. Long story short, I missed him by an hour.
    If I caught him I would have killed him dead. If he was running away, I would have shot him and dragged him into the house. I am not a racist. I do not like people who hate. And I am not angry at the world. But, it left me with a no tolerance mind set.
    I know that its a different situation then the one with Joe Horn but I think he should have tried to stop them.

    And this is why we have laws, so we can't just shoot someone every time something is "getting out of hand." Drunk Driving's getting out of hand (and more dangerous than burglary). The law looks for more than "getting out of hand" when deciding if it's ok to kill someone.

    he was in your house. if you'd shot him, id have said hats off to you and glad you're not hurt. these guys were in someone else's house, he went out there and shot them as they ran away. there's a diff.
