so, for my art work, i need to find 7 artists, each one representing one of the 7 art elements:

line, tone, shape, form, pattern, texture and colour

i've been thinking maybe bridget riley or hundertwasser for colour....but hundertwasser could be used for shape also. bridget riley is also good for pattern...andy Goldsworthy could be used for a few but i dont know which one to pick for him at the moment, and i was thinking Alex Grey for form....with his conception images.....

any input would be greatly appreciated, i havent left too much time to get my work done, and i have other subjects to do still....

thanks,

Lizi

wow! you know hundertwasser!! that's great!!
    he's austrian..*proud* :D
he'd be good for colour..or also lines...

what do you think about dalì for shape? or even texture...think of the furniture he designed...

    magritte for forms mabe?

monet or some impressionist for tone...

ernst fuchs for line?? he did beautiful etchings...

oh squiggs, thank you so much. i just had a feeling noone would respond and i was starting to get stuck, i mean...so many artists fit into catagories, but none that really were striking chords with me.

im thinking of using wassily kandinsky for colour.

i may well use Dali for shape now, so thank you so much!

for texture im thinking about Andy Goldsworthy...he's amazing.

i dont want to use an impressionist, because although i do love their work, and find it utterly amazing and breath taking, it's not the art that i do, and i need to do some pictures in the style of these people, and id spend days just doing one painting, which is good....but not for when its just for a simple study board.

ernst fuchs is amazing. id never heard of him actually, i dont know many artsists still, he reminds me alot of alex grey (http://www.alexgrey.com) he's my fave artist....just love his work, amazes me that it's all painted, it looks like its done on a computer it's so neat and.....intriquite. did i spell that right?

anyway, so thank you so much!!! if you think of any more, drop me a line :p

WOW! alex grey is amazing!! love his drawings!! his paintings are quite psycheldelic, huh? ;) just the right thing for my lil bambi :D

kandinsky is a good choice for colour!!

glad you liked fuchs...i'm a big fan of surrealism...dalì & fuchs are my favourite artists in this field...

anyhow..if anything comes to mind..i'll let you know! :)

You want a couple more suggestions? Some that instantly come to mind:

    FORM : Antony Gormley http://www.antonygormley.com (I'm a big fan :D)
    TONE : Joseph Wright - http://cgfa.sunsite.dk/w/p-jwright1.htm
. . . . or Gerrit van Honthorst http://www.kfki.hu/~arthp/html/h/honthors/ both show light effects causing tone brilliantly
SHAPE : David Mach possibly?.. His "Fuel for the Fire" is amazing

I'd definitly go with Bridget Riley for pattern and Andy Goldsworthy for texture (although the stuff he does with nature, he'd be good for colour too!)

Hope that helps a little, and doesn't confuse things further :D

    Good luck!

Is that a well known picture? I can't place it so I'm not going to be of any help.
But if you want my thoughts .. the version on the left looks like an impressionist maybe, Cezanne or Gauguin, but I'd expect both of them to be more colourful, and Cezanne especially would usually have fruit in there too. I'm also reminded of that painting of 4 jugs or vases (whatever) in a row by Zurbaran - can't remember the title, very famous picture. He uses similar lighting.
Hope you find what your looking for... sorry I can't help :(

Here's a website I found, nowhere near his best, but a sampling at least.

    http://cgee.hamline.edu/see/goldsworthy/see_an_andy.html

One of my favorites is the work with the logs, where he collected and forced warped logs into this giant spiral. It's just so large-scale, it's amazing. I would give my left arm to have the kind of patience he must have.

The strip that looks like a rainbow?... it's very effective, I'd love to see the originals in reality, before he photographs them. I think he fits into the texture section best.

Wouldn't disagree with any of those choices you made, but I'd personally use Antony Gormley instead of Henry Moore, just because I love his work. But for art course purposes Henry Moore probably has more variety.

Good luck for a good grade :D
