so, for my art work, i need to find 7 artists, each one representing one of the 7 art elements:
line, tone, shape, form, pattern, texture and colour
i've been thinking maybe bridget riley or hundertwasser for colour....but hundertwasser could be used for shape also. bridget riley is also good for pattern...andy Goldsworthy could be used for a few but i dont know which one to pick for him at the moment, and i was thinking Alex Grey for form....with his conception images.....
any input would be greatly appreciated, i havent left too much time to get my work done, and i have other subjects to do still....
thanks,
Lizi

wow! you know hundertwasser!! that's great!!
he's austrian..*proud*
he'd be good for colour..or also lines...
what do you think about dalì for shape? or even texture...think of the furniture he designed...
http://www.dali-gallery.com/
magritte for forms mabe?
http://www.abcgallery.com/M/magritte/magritte.html
monet or some impressionist for tone...
http://www.abcgallery.com/M/monet/monet.html
ernst fuchs for line?? he did beautiful etchings...

oh well..so hard to say...and so many fit into more than one category...hope i was of some help tho....
*huggles*
im thinking of using wassily kandinsky for colour.
i may well use Dali for shape now, so thank you so much!
for texture im thinking about Andy Goldsworthy...he's amazing.
i dont want to use an impressionist, because although i do love their work, and find it utterly amazing and breath taking, it's not the art that i do, and i need to do some pictures in the style of these people, and id spend days just doing one painting, which is good....but not for when its just for a simple study board.
ernst fuchs is amazing. id never heard of him actually, i dont know many artsists still, he reminds me alot of alex grey (http://www.alexgrey.com) he's my fave artist....just love his work, amazes me that it's all painted, it looks like its done on a computer it's so neat and.....intriquite. did i spell that right?
anyway, so thank you so much!!! if you think of any more, drop me a line
MWAAH!
kandinsky is a good choice for colour!!
glad you liked fuchs...i'm a big fan of surrealism...dalì & fuchs are my favourite artists in this field...
anyhow..if anything comes to mind..i'll let you know!

so now im all confuddled as to who to do for what!
EDIT! nah.....he's much more of a colour artist though.....haha, this is just my brain juice spilling out here...so ignor me!
well yeah..i thought of him as line too..but then i took a look at some more of his pix..and i'd say take him for colour!! he's great at experimenting with colour...

that's the pic i planned on using....:D
thanks!
haha..cool!
very welcome sweets...if there's anything i can do to help..just tell me!
*huggles*
FORM : Antony Gormley http://www.antonygormley.com (I'm a big fan )
TONE : Joseph Wright - http://cgfa.sunsite.dk/w/p-jwright1.htm
. . . . or Gerrit van Honthorst http://www.kfki.hu/~arthp/html/h/honthors/ both show light effects causing tone brilliantly
SHAPE : David Mach possibly?.. His "Fuel for the Fire" is amazing
I'd definitly go with Bridget Riley for pattern and Andy Goldsworthy for texture (although the stuff he does with nature, he'd be good for colour too!)
Hope that helps a little, and doesn't confuse things further
Good luck!
excellent, thank you so much, i will deffinatly check those out, as those are three that i need artists for still if i remember rightly.
thanks so much.
ps: told you before, but what the hell, i'll tell you again, you are a very very talented artist!
Hey I can take it, one more time won't hurt ...... thanks
Happy to help if I can. Art is a big part of my life, nothing better than painting when listening to Pearl Jam ... it's not such a hard life! Hope your artwork's going well ... when does it need to be finished by?
have to agree with the painting whilst listening to PJ......it takes you to this other place, where....you can just forget everything, and just.....i know you'll know what im trying to explain, and i cant put it into words really, other than simply: it takes me somewhere else, somewhere where no one else can be at that moment....
i love it.
I have days where I just paint and play a rotation of Pearl Jam, Radiohead and Muse ... then I realise the house is a mess and there's no food in the cupboard. Time to come back to reality
One more "good luck" for your artwork .. and getting finished

thanks
But if you want my thoughts .. the version on the left looks like an impressionist maybe, Cezanne or Gauguin, but I'd expect both of them to be more colourful, and Cezanne especially would usually have fruit in there too. I'm also reminded of that painting of 4 jugs or vases (whatever) in a row by Zurbaran - can't remember the title, very famous picture. He uses similar lighting.
Hope you find what your looking for... sorry I can't help :(
no no that's a great help. i did do a search on cezanne yesterday but it wasnt him....i dont know if it's really well known, but i've studyed it once before when i was younger in school i think i'll search some of those other artists you mentioned, thanks

THANKS!
yeah he is just amazing! i was thinking of doing him for texture....as he does like sand art on trees and things.....i havent decided yet, better get my butt into gear though....monday is drawing close and i have a HECK of alot to do.....why do i ALWAYS leave it to the last minute. i just dont get myself!
Oh yeah, texture would work well too. My parents have a few books of his work, and I'm dying to look through them asap. Thanks a lot!
Hey, procrastination is totally underrated. Some of my best work has been finished minutes before my deadline. In the car...
i got one of his books out of the Library, so many works i hadnt seen before...amazing. his stuff is so hard to find on the internet....it's all grade 3 kids down the beach with sticks with their teacher, putting lines in the sand!
and, have to agree with the last minute thing, i think with my art, i work best under that little bit of pressure, it's just tota;ly not worth the stress though....i also have media work, english language work and psychology work to do as well.....
Here's a website I found, nowhere near his best, but a sampling at least.
http://cgee.hamline.edu/see/goldsworthy/see_an_andy.html
One of my favorites is the work with the logs, where he collected and forced warped logs into this giant spiral. It's just so large-scale, it's amazing. I would give my left arm to have the kind of patience he must have.
ahhh,,,,this was one of the best websites i found when searching...thanks
i love how he does stuff like....when it's raining, he'll go lay on a huge rock.....and when it's stopped he'll get up, and this mark of a body is left on the dry bit of rock....i mean it's so simple that one, but imaginative......amazing.
I'm only posting this because it's got one of my favourites .. http://www.artnet.com/artwork/423933345/_Andy_Goldsworthy__--1--Elm_Leaves_Laid_on_the_Wet_Trunk_of_an_Elm_Tree_4_December_2000.html
i LOVE the stuff he does with leaves....especially the maple leaves, from a yellow to purple....amazing.
Now I must stop playing!
Looks like a black hole ... you could almost disappear deep into that!
nicely done!!! that looks amazing...i love that one. have you seem the one i meant? like this one, but a small strip, purple to yellow. i think it's on the page BP put up....
hey, here is my final list of artists im doing:
line: bridget riley
tone: this students work i found online....thought it would be nice to use it, his name was Josh Messite....i think.
shape: kandinsky
form: henry moore
texture: andy goldsworthy (although....he deffinatly would fit into alot of these catagories)
colour: hundertwasser
think they'll be okay? they are all artists which i like....well kind of, bridget riley is good, but some of it i wouldnt call art (ooooh, contravercial!)
Wouldn't disagree with any of those choices you made, but I'd personally use Antony Gormley instead of Henry Moore, just because I love his work. But for art course purposes Henry Moore probably has more variety.
Good luck for a good grade
ps.. art is supposed to be controversial there's loads of "Bridget Rileys" out there ... alot of it I wouldn't call art either! (Don't get me started on Tracy Emin or Martin Creed!)
What are you studying and where?
Astoria,Dublin,Reading 06,Wembley 07,Sheapards Bush & o2 09 thats multiple Jamgasms!
Excellent choice! I haven't been on the board for a while, that's why I noticed this thread now... Can't stop thinking of colours and lines now....
For colour I was thinking of Kirchner, Macke, Miro, Chagall and Marc. For line maybe Dufy or Mondriaan. Tone: some work of de Chirico. For texture maybe Braque or Duchamp. Shape: Wright (maybe check for Arp and Munoz http://museum.antwerpen.be/middelheimopenluchtmuseum/index_eng.html under collection)
Anyway: good luck with the art work!!
Sandruwa: hey thanks alot, i will deffinatly check those out, thank you!!
