Went to NYC a few weekends ago, here's a couple I took during the cold ass day. Thought they kinda had an "evenflow" vibe to them.
Enjoy.

Enjoy.

Nice pics. They remind me of an Ani Difranco lyric.
"i remember the first time i saw someone
lying on the cold street
i thought: i can't just walk past here
this can't just be true
but i learned by example
to just keep moving my feet
it's amazing the things that we all learn to do"If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.
Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.

While I didnt do anything physical to help the guy, I felt that if I shared the photo, I'd be in some small way reminding people that people like this exist, maybe Id help in some small way.Why go home

No offense, but how the hell would I have taken his picture from the left?
And yes, I'm human. Just not one like you. We are truly two different animals. Why go home

No, I shot him with my 15mm lens on my camera at my hip, I like walking NYC and inconspicuously shooting people whilst they have no idea their picture is being taken. Why go home

No. I don't believe in giving them money directly. Money in MOST of their hands, equals a dollar spent on booze.
I can't tell you how many times I have walked by a homeless person, who when they asked if I had any spare change, I answered, " no, but I run a business and would be glad to have you come work for some money to help you out", only to be told to go fuck myself.
Everyone creates their own reality, whether you regret that people like him exist, you still have to face why they exist. Its usually as much their choice as it is anyone elses fault.
But the image has cause discussion. Mission accomplished. Why go home

Funny that you did it that way as I didn't think he or too many in that position would agree to having their pic taken.
On a side note. I was in NYC years ago and there was this black dude whipping a crowd into a big frenzy. I asked who he was and they told me but I forget now. Anyway.....the next day I was walking with my camera in a different part of the city and who do I see whipping the crowd into a frenzy. The same guy. I go to shoot some pics and two of the biggest mfr's grab ahold of me and tell me not to bother shooting if I don't want to lose my camera and a few other choice things. I took the advice and listened to the dudes words of hate and then was on my way. Just thought I would share a picture story from NYC with ya.You've changed your place in this world!0 -

The first pic is the best! My mind went WOW when I saw it. I like the way the guy is looking away and the woman is glancing at him. Tells a whole story, good composition, sharp.....yup you've nailed it!Why not be mediocre and be the best at it that you can be?0

I've checked his stuff out. I like it. I try not to "study" too much works of others, I'd rather think I'm original. Why go home

I find that even on days when I just sit on a corner, and point right at people, very few will even look over at you while you shoot them. They're to busy to give a flying F.
Once in a while someone will give me the evil eye.
But shooting from the hip with a 15mm fisheye gives me the benefit of being inconspicuous. Why go home

I like the photosBut this guy with half a leg is hardly in a position to hold down a proper job. It's a bit unfair to grudge him a dollar!

It is, in my opinion, a bit unfair to grudge/judge me for not giving him a dollar. A good percentage of panhandlers in NYC actually make more money per year than I probably do. And its tax free to boot. Why go home

I was gonna say, that guy looks quite well turned out; good shoes, clean, warm coat.
I went to San Fran last November, one of the things that struck me most was the amount of homeless, much more than london or anywhere in the uk. Does not seem to be much middle ground there. A lot of them looked in a really bad way.Salut baloo0 -

But this guy is disabled, he probably can't even get a job.
Not to throw this thread off-topic or anything but what is the situation for disabled people in america? Do they get benefits?"We have to change the concept of patriotism to one of “matriotism” — love of humanity that transcends war. Everyone in the usa who isn't a WMA and tries, gets benefits.
And what do you mean no middle ground? You under the impression there's only homeless people and uber-wealthy people here?
Despite what you hear, the middle class is alive and well here in the usa.Why go home
