    He's said that after each of the last two albums and tours. Towards the end of the X and Y tour, he said they were splitting up. Technically, they did split up for a year or so, then regrouped. The same thing will happen this time.

    A band is only as old as the members make it. Music doesn't have an expiry date so he should shut up and grow a pair.

    And once they're done with Chris Martin, they'll purge his ass for the next chump in line; ready and steady with a sappy tale to make the teenies weep.

    He'll be dried up bubblegum on the sidewalks of music history before you know it.

    Wow..a lot of hatred toward Chris Martin here. I'm willing to bet he was responding to a journalists questions with tongue in cheek.

    This is why it was a good thing Pearl Jam pulled away from the spotlight. If Coldplay were smart they would've done the same thing after "rush of blood to the head".

    After a couple of hugely successfull first albums, the weight of expectation is massive. Its a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" type scenario. Pearl Jam was lucky enough to pull away and actually show tremendous growth artistically after Vs. Coldplay tried to fully embrace the spotlight and have fallen way short of expectations with a couple of mediocre albums.

    that is a pretty stupid reason for breaking up. But meh doesn't really affect me. I like a few of their songs but could care less if they never record another one.
