    I agree....

    It starts out with 3 killer songs and realy drops off. They need to rock a little more on the tail end of the album

    Damn I've listened to this album over 20 times now. I liked it at first and must say that it really grows on you. I expected something a little better but my hopes were way too high.

It reads more like a piece of fiction than a music review, shit fiction at that. You begin to wonder if these people are even capable of enjoying music.

    Am I missing something? I bought the last album from this band and after a couple of plays became really bored with it.

    They sound pretty ordinary to me or do I have to play it more?

    wow alot of people are ripping on this new album ( on other sites like youtube), but thats what people do i guess...what i've heard so far i love.
    Cant wait for the album.

    you mean that in a good way? Cause I agree, but that sums up why this album isn't very good.
    I love all previous KOL albums, one of my favorite bands, but the first three songs on 'Only By The night' are amazing, and then nothing! Just boring song after boring song.

    And just for the record, Pitchfork has never liked KOL, even Youth and Young Manhood got a bad review, so I'm not surprised they're ripping this album extra hard.

    I have heard most of the new album on lastfm. While I made
    sure not to listen to any of the songs in their entirety, I have a strong
    feeling that I will be disappointed with Only By the Night.

    1) Youth and Young Manhood was a great first album for such young guys, and the next two albums were classics that were completely different from each other; I loved Aha Shake and Because of the Times on first listen. I was shocked that America ignored both those albums.

    2) It's only been a year and a half since Because of the Times. Kind of rushed?

    3) I know the guys want to get their just due in the USA. I'm afraid they may have watered down their sound to appeal to the masses.

    4) None of the songs I've heard were standouts. Sex On Fire is particularly a letdown because it sounds as if it's on a loop. KOL songs rule because they have so many different parts to them. Sex On Fire repeats itself throughout. Furthermore, the sound throughout the album is the same. Because of the Times and Aha Shake had varied moods throughout the albums.

    I hope the album grows on me. That would be an awsome surprise.

    This album is a "grower" as they say. Believe me, when you listen to it a few more times all the way through you'll come to like some of it. Definitely isn't as good as BOTT but there are still some very very good songs on it.

    Why is everyone judging so harshly?!!

    I can't understand how anyone can say "it's not a good album" !!
    It's not up to us to say what's good or bad, but mearly what we like & don't like.

    If you like the album, then listen & enjoy. I know I will !
    If not, then don't and listen to something else!

    Just cool it with the negativity. It's all about opinion.
