I want to thank u for starting this thread. I am waiting on my Gorge cds, and Icky Thump from Amazon. I did hear Icky once since it was released. So, back to thanking you. Yeah I pulled out AVACADO today and listened to it for the gazillionith time. I am never bored or IRRRITATED by any of the tracks.
My boyfriend can listen to Icky while I relish in live at the Gorge/06 for weeks and weeks.
On a side note. My ears were ringing for 2 days from the loud screeching vocals of Jack and crazy guitar riffs. If I had to pick between Pearl Jam and TWS live show to go to. Hands down Pearl Jam. I remember going through a withdrawal period. The pit was a saving grace for me the following months our boys toured. Come back to Canada soon eh!

Not even Army Reserve and Unemployable just a little bit?!

Avocado = every song is good, my 2nd favorite pj album
Icky thump= 2nd best white stripes record, but the single "icky thump" sucks. It's the worst song on the album, and terrible choice for radio to introduce this record.

That being said, Avocado wins by one song, but really these two bands can't be compared. They are 2 of my favorite bands, but completely different music styles. Even though the White stripes are one of my favorite bands, I don't like their self titled album it's got like 3 good songs and that's it.

    5 against... 2? Ah.

Who cares though? Pearl Jam wins by 3.

I like to think of it this way: WEhich band has more talent per capita? By the way, when calculating the White Stripes score, don't count Meg. She's just a drum machine with boobies.

icky thump is meg white behind the kit. jack white can play some cool riffs, but he's no match for pearl jam and self titled.

  • The Raconteurs was the best album of 06. IMO. Icky or Avacodo, tough call, I think it is a tie.

I guess it would help if I were more than just a casual White Stripes fan. I like a few songs here and there but, would never buy an album. Avocado by 2 and a half miles.

Well, as "Icky Thump" has blown me away for the past week and I am already declaring it thier best album ever, and considering I was mildly disappointed with Avocado, apart from the usual 4-5 great songs, well...

I'm sorry, but I'll go with Icky Thump. Jack has finally gone heavier, bluesier and even more quirky than before. This is how I hoped most deeply that WS would sound at some point. And since Avocado doesn't really have that unbeatable quality of most of PJs other records, I was particularly disappointed about the slow numbers, seeing how recent songs I Am Mine, Man Of The Hour and so on are so good.

So I'll go with the White Stripes' best album over one of PJs weakest. One vote for Icky Thump here.

    Peace

  • Icky Thump, definitely.
  • WOW, Icky Thump with an amazing resurgence.

Now that is scary! I wonder who would win that one? :D;)

a member and one lead singer/ writer of the Beatles or a one hit wonder hip hop artist with some oversized parachute pants! :D

this joke made me laugh. :D
