why would anyone have known that? it never would have occurred to me, those festivals are tightly regulated. pearl jam didn't play one minute over their allotted time at lollapalooza last year. i do think it's cool that they went all out for bonnaroo, but i also have to wonder a bit if pj didnt let their own egos out when they heard someone was going on after them and they weren't closing that night. i've seen the glow in the dark tour. it would have been pretty cool going on at 1 or 2am and lighting up the night after pearl jam finished. festivals are hard enough to pull off without people ignoring the schedules. i can understand why kanye was pissed off, even if it was pretty unclassy the way he lashed out."You've never been out of college, you don't know what it's like out there. Because, there set time was listed from 10-12 only when every other headliner got 3 hours. And, the org running Bonnaroo said that PJ could play as long as they wanted...I'm paraphrasing there...
You have to be kidding right? They had 1.5 hours to get the stage together before his show was scheduled to start anyhow...he was 1.5 hours late...since pearl jam only played 1 hour over anyhow, what about that other 30 minutes? It took Kanye 3 HOURS after PJ was done to come onto the stage.
And by the way, I was looking forward to Kaney and hoping his set woudl be amazing and really enjoyable...instead it was really corny. And singing on stage with all backing music is pretty lame too...hell, even American Idol using some real musicians.hippiemom = goodness0 -

yeah, it was kind of corny, ill grant that. but i figured it would be a kind of cool late night event for bonnaroo. kind of like a daft punk rave set after the rockers finish. ah well, water under the bridge.
i still love all kanye's albums."You've never been out of college, you don't know what it's like out there. I've worked in the private sector... they expect results." -Ray

I love how nobody mentions that Kanye was partying in Atlanta earlier that night at Young Jeezy's birthday party. It could have had something to do with this but of course the prick would never admit he was in the wrong. My brother and I were at the Bonnaroo fiasco and I stayed until the sun came up to see what all the fuss was about. We didn't even like Kanye to begin with but figured it was worth a shot. The show was ridiculous. Talking to a computer? Come on. I felt like I was watching Captain EO with Michael Jackson at Disney back in the day. I thought it sucked and the fan response said most everyone else did as well. FUCK KANYE!I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.0

i saw some vodka commerical he's doing. and it was something like wanting to be kayne and i thought who wants to become a whining douche? if thats the side-effects of that vodka ill never drink that.
and on the bonnaroo thing didnt he ask to go on after pj so he would have a night sky? so pj was scheduled to be the last act that night, but someone wanted special treatment and it backfired.0 -

Then when he pranced his ass out on the stage, he offered no sort of apology and played for just an hour. Not to mention, the next day, several artists, including Robert Randolph's Revival, called him out......I think it speaks a lot about a person that their ego must be that big that fellow colleagues in the music world say things about you, at the very festival that you are still at.
Brian Posehn called him out too in the comedy tent- it was great!

Kayne is a joke
I'd rather have someone vomit in my ear than have to listen to Kayne West's god awful version of music.
You don't need a crystal ball to see that In the future, Kanye West's albums will sit along side the likes of MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice, Paula Abdul, and New Kids on The Block in bargin bins, garage sales, and Goodwill stores everywhere.
Another tragic and unfortunate mis-use of plastic and energy.0 -

You are either too biased or too fucking stupid if you think that Kanyes music sucks. You may not like his antics, but he has more talent in his middle finger (That is in the air pointing towards people like you) than 95% of the bands/singers that are posted on this 'other band' forum.0 -
Average to poor producer, in terms of hip-hop, great R&B producer, AWFUL rapper.
That's about it."I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"0 -

you don't like music do you? to say Kanye makes "god awful music" is one of the most ignorant things i have ever heard...and maybe you do need a crystal ball because his albums will be looked at as defining pieces of music in this era.
SERIOUSLY DUDE WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU? please tell me what songs are garbage i would like to hear and please tell me you have heard more than Stronger...0 -

are you kidding me? average to poor? have you heard Takeover? Encore? Champion? Flashing Lights? We Major? H To The Izzo? Get By? Guerrila Monsoon Rap? This Can't Be Life? The Truth? Heart of the City? Never Change?
I could go on and on he is not an average producer0 -

How Kanye is a household name and producers like DJ Premier and Pete Rock who have been at the forefront of the genre for 20 years and have made beats for EVERYONE are still languishing in relative obscurity is beyond me. Kanye's production technique basically extends no further than looping a few seconds from a classic soul, funk or hip-hop song and dropping a random drum beat on it. He's not an artist, he's an entertainer.
He used to be fairly promising, the Blueprint work in particular, although H to the Izzo is a good tune thanks entirely to the original Jackson Five tune. Kanye did nothing apart from looping a few seconds of it. These days he seems content to literally drop terrible rhymes over a barely changed Daft Punk tune and call it "sampling". It's lazy and shoddy work. Sorry, that's my opinion. Where's the innovation? Where's the kind of revolutionary filtering techniques that Large Professor and Premo ushered in? Where's the vast variety of source materials and obscure motifs that make this kind of music so interesting? Kanye is by no means a bad producer, he's just nothing special. His popularity is based on his skill at taking other people's tunes wholesale, rather than making his own. Fair play to him as a moneymaker, I'm just not going to give him props for artistic ability."I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"0 -
I'd be willing to bet everyone here bashing kanye west liked him before Bonnaroo...even though that incident was not his fault, but PJ's but apparently people here can't realize that.0

If Kanye was going to perform after one of my shows, I would have gone on for an extra 2 hours!!It's always funny until someone gets hurt, and then it's just hilarious!!0
