    if we're on metal.. i definitely think Mustaine would take it here.. his solos are so well thought out and rhythm based... holy wars into hangar 18 off rust in peace is some amazing shit.. his riffs can be even crazier than his solos!

    Garcia always did it for me, sometimes when I hear 'As Tears go Bye' live by the Stones it also gives me that wordless feeling.

    "Chilling" is hard for me to think of besides "Comfortably Numb", but there are some that prevoke a lot of emotion and you can really feel em inside

    Phish- "Divided Sky" - no real solo but a lot of the riffs in it.
    Tea Leaf Green- "Franz Hanzerbeak"
    Pearl Jam - "I Am Mine", "Come Back"
    "Stairway to Heaven"... duh
    Lynyrd Skynyrd "Tuesday's Gone"
    Clapton "Layla" both unplugged and regularly

    Thank GOD someone mentioned Alive...EVERY time i hear that solo, live or studio, i get chills. That song is what made me a Pearl Jam fan, that solo is what inspired me to pick up a guitar. Absolutely AMAZING, McCready's solo in that has to be one of the best guitar solos of all time IMO.

    I agree with Come Back, only studio though, the effect on that solo when it comes in right at the end is amazing.

    As much as I love Mike, the solo came straight from The Doors "Five to One" to "She" by KISS. Then Mike used it so most of the credit has to go to Robby Krieger
