i think you were accused of ranking albums high because they're unpopular, not like you said. Which i dont think is any different then ranking high because they are popular, music should be based on music. But whatever to each his own, these lists are all arbitrary anyways.0 -
Echoes, you do sound a little pretentious, but whatever, at least you put some thought into your selections. I appreciate that. I got some good recommendations from that list. I don't agree with some of your choices, but to each his own. (The Mountain Goats is a particularly tough choice for me to swallow.)"no, i can't give you full credit, but i'm not gonna flunk you either. you're all getting incompletes."0

Oh. Well that's silly. I can straight up back any of the choices up, and I can honestly say all the "popular" choices were pretty bland.
Also Moloko, The Sunset Tree may not have been as stellar as some of his past works, his last 3 albums in particular, I found it to be a painstaking portrait of Darnielle's life as a teenager. Unfortunately, it really tails off on the last half of the album, otherwise I would have had it top 5. It might even drop out of the top 10 before all is said and done with things.printf("shiver in eternal darkness\n");0 -

Feel free to question me on any of it, I'll answer what I can. It started from a list of 77, and I have the 52 or so that I left off. A lot of the more recognizable releases, Spoon, ...Trail Of Dead, System of A Down, Sleater-Kinney, Beck, and Jimmy Chamberlain etc were on the list of albums I considered but didn't make it. It probably sounds pretentious but I wanted to make sure I had the best representation of what was out there from this year.
So much fat on this list.... let me start a choppin'!
20. Broken Social Scene - s/t
24. Wolf Parade - Apologies To The Queen Mary
25. Low - The Great Destroyer

i forgot you were the Source of all Musical Greatness
i listed the albums that I thought were the Best of 2005, not a list that might please you. sorry that you disagree. i like to see your list!
im sure ill find some i would think are Fat"I Will Scream my Lungs out 'til it fills this Room "

Everyone could find fat on anyone's list. I highly doubt there's two people that like the exact same bands and dislike the exact same ones. No one here has a better musical taste than anyone else other than themselves. These type of topics are really best to show what your tastes are so some convos can get going on similar music or on bringing new music to a new set of ears if someone is curious.Pearl Jam Album Rankings
