I really liked Bruce's live renditions of "It's My Life" by The Animals. I have 2 recordings of him playing it, in which he talks about his awkward relationship with his father. He played it a lot in the late 70's. His covers of the song gradually stopped, and instead, he'd use the haunting stories of him and his father as an intro to other songs played live, especially "I'm on Fire."
What I find really fascinating is that he'd end his narration with "Sometimes, I just wanted to...", a hesitation, a sudden increase in the cheering, and the singing would commence. I had only heard the audio, so for a while I went without knowing what had happened that made the audience cheer after "Sometimes I just wanted to."
Then I saw a live video from the 80's of him and the band playing "I'm on Fire" and he'd actually clench his fist and punch forward as if he were punching someone out. I quickly realized it was his father he wanted to do that to. Powerful moment. Some really great stories told in "It's My Life."
I have the versions of "It's My Life" performed on November 4 and November 10, 1976... if anyone's interested, message me and I'll be sure to get them to you.www.myspace.com/fusionsong0 -

Two questions.
1) Are there any soundboard quality bootlegs out there of his solo tour to promote "Devil's and Dust"?
2) What's the best Springsteen book out there to read?0 -

1) don't think so. check BTX at Backstreets.com.. every show is there
2) people have always said the David Marsh books are good... http://www.amazon.com/Bruce-Springsteen-Two-Hearts-Story/dp/041596928X/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1220907070&sr=1-6
it combines his 2 other books Born To Run and Glory Days but don't count on much info past 1986.
but this is the book i'd get http://www.amazon.com/Greetings-Street-Story-Bruce-Springsteen/dp/0811853489/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1220907264&sr=1-3 my Dad has it and it is amazing.0 -
while it is important that we all Never Forget ,
its just as important to Always Remember.
even 2 days past 7 years gone by ,
& the next 363 days to come till it'll be 8 years ,
Not sure how many heard it , but here in NYC , a local radio station ( Q 104.3 ) held the on air moment of silence, they then went uninterupted right into this , a most appropriate song from the album that says it all , The Rising , with every track on it.
Empty Sky
I woke up this morning
I could barely breathe
Just an empty impression
In the bed where you used to be
I want a kiss from your lips
I want an eye for an eye
I woke up this morning to the empty sky
Empty sky, empty sky
I woke up this morning to an empty sky
Empty sky, empty sky
I woke up this morning to an empty sky
Blood on the streets
Yeah blood flowin' down
I hear the blood of my blood
Cryin' from the ground
Empty sky, empty sky
I woke up this morning to an empty sky
Empty sky, empty sky
I woke up this morning to an empty sky
On the plains of Jordan
I cut my bow from the wood
Of this tree of evil
Of this tree of good
I want a kiss from your lips
I want an eye for an eye
I woke up this morning to an empty sky
Empty sky, empty sky
I woke up this morning to an empty sky
Empty sky, empty sky
I woke up this morning to an empty sky
Empty sky, empty sky
I woke up this morning to an empty sky

Shirts in the closet, shoes in the hall
Mama's in the kitchen, baby and all
Everything is everything
Everything is everything
But you're missing
Coffee cups on the counter, jackets on the chair
Papers on the doorstep, you're not there
Everything is everything
Everything is everything
But you're missing
Pictures on the nightstand, TV's on in the den
Your house is waiting, your house is waiting
For you to walk in, for you to walk in
But you're missing, you're missing
You're missing when I shut out the lights
You're missing when I close my eyes
You're missing when I see the sun rise
You're missing
Children are asking if it's alright
Will you be in our arms tonight?
Morning is morning, the evening falls I have
Too much room in my bed, too many phone calls
How's everything, everything?
Everything, everything
You're missing, you're missing
God's drifting in heaven, devil's in the mailbox
I got dust on my shoes, nothing but teardropsFor the ones who had a notion, a notion deep inside

anyone heard anything about the Darkness 30th anniversery box? checked on BTX and there's talk of Columbia not wanting to flood the market w/ Billy Joel's Stranger box and Bruce's Darkness box... thing is the BTR box came out at the same time as Joel's My Lives box... so who knows?0

I hope that this is right.... they just announced Neil Young at the Spectrum in December, so it could be the start of the Spectrum farewell shows. This is your notice that there is a problem with your signature. Please remove it.

Hrmmm, I really really would love to see Bruce... and I guess the only way is a huge stadium (can't really afford the better seats)... how big is the Spectrum? If he's there, I would definitely consider going. If I could, think I would give in.0

my guess is it holds 20,000 tops for a concert but probably more like 15,000... I saw Bruce there during the Devils to Dust tour and the show was amazing... especially since my seats were so good. This is your notice that there is a problem with your signature. Please remove it.
